Has anyone seen the results of the 2013 Philly beer scene voting? I think the award ceremony was last night.

I know this from their FB page
    Tired Hands Brewing Company
Last night we won "Brewpub of the Year" at the Philly Beer SceneAwards. Thank you to anyone who has ever come through and shared a strange and beautiful beer with us and then voted for us. We exist in a most righteous beer culture. You are all awesome.

I'm sure they'll be posted soon. I saw Suzy Woods won beer writer of the year and Bella Vista won distributor of the year.

Humeville in is a smoky fucking dump. How Teresas or TJ's doesnt win this every year is beyond my comprehension.

More people vote for hulmeville, its pretty easy to comprehend. Just because you dont like it doesn't mean a thing.

I've never set foot in the place bc of the smoking aspect. Oh well.

They must of been paying people to vote or something because I have been there 2x and both times I said I would never go back. Teresas and TJs on the otherhand I go to a couple of times a month each. The food is better, the beer is better, the atmoshphere is better and there is no smoking a holes.

Dont bother. Its a dive bar that serves craft beer.

I love the Hulmeville. Any time I'm frolfing at Tyler State Park I make it a point to stop by. If you don't Hang out at the bar and instead play golden tee or darts its not as smokey. Plus where else can you get a flight for 5 bucks. The prices are right at the Ville and that's why I go.

i'm never going to judge a bar's craft beer-ness by whether or not they still allow smoking.

I've been twice and both times said you won't go back. Well one time you lied to yourself. Get over it. They have more loyal customers, they advertise this contest very heavily, they sponsor a beer geek contestant every year and win most of the time, have an avid homebrew club that meets there, give back to the local community and are a standout craft beer spot. They win every year for a reason and won't be giving it up for a long time. The party they throw to celebrate the win is awesome. You don't like smoke we get it, and smokers don't like you. Its all good.

I used to frequent the Hulmeville more-so when they had the Thursday Firkin nights (which I don't think they do anymore. Also I moved) and whenever I came home I smelled like smoke. Small price to pay for good beer in that area.

One thing I notice here on BA is it seems like most people tend to focus on the Montco/Chester bars moreso than the Northeast Philly/Bucks bars. Perhaps it's just where most of the SEPA BA's live but bars like The Grey Lodge, Hulmeville, Dog & Bull, Brady's, Isaac Newtown's rarely get the love that a Capone's or TJ's gets. But as we know BA doesn't represent 100% of the craft drinking community.

To be honest I don't take too much stock in the Beer Scene Awards anyway. If the magazine was any good then maybe I would.
