Never bothered with the Royale since Canadian whiskey is the planet's most worthless whiskey. I haven't had a blended Irish whiskey worth a damn before either. I'll pass and stick with the good ol' BA BORIS. Gonna have to dip into one of the green caps that I have tucked away sometime soon. Bourbon, rye, single-malt scotch or GTFO.

If they could make the price on this reasonable...but they won't.

Right, because Canadian Whiskey and Irish Whiskey aren't OAK barrels

Barrel aged beer picks up subtle flavors from the spirit, but it's all about the wood. BORIS Royale was delicious and I'm sure this will be too!!

Royale was $14.99 at the brewery. That's not unreasonable compared to other quality BA stouts in the marketplace.

Shit, another ridiculously overpriced bomber that I'll have to buy at least once. They always get me.

A 50% mark up (from retail) on boris for the cost of the barrel and this is JUST at the brewery? What would it be retail?

The differences are noticeable, though. Anything I've had that's been Scotch aged has been far more mild than anything to come out of a bourbon or rye barrel. If the spirit in it was more intense then it stands to reason that the oak is going to have a more pronounced flavor as a result.

I think it has more to do with the base beer and the amount of time. I've had huge virgin oak and wine barrel aged beers with tons of vanilla. I guess my point is don't write it off just based on the kind of spirit. Totally understand if you want to wait until reviews come in, but I'm psyched for this beer! Cheers!!

Agree with the pricing issue. Product is good, but not twice as good as a 10$ bottle. But man I can't stop buying Hop Dam for some reason.

it makes me happy to see people complaining about BA BORIS's price. as long as you guys are sticker shocked by $13 BA BORIS, but can't wait to throw $20+ at BCBS and founders releases, i'll keep casually strolling into bottle shops and buying my favorite BA stout.

re: irish whiskey, meh @ the whiskey, but i'll try any hoppin frog BA variant.

The regular BA BORIS is one of the most underrated impy stouts out there. I doubt I'll get a chance to try this, but I'd love to. Hoppin' Frog sure knows how to make those stouts.
