Regular Heady Consumer Tries Pliny The Elder

You think Heady is the best.
Some other people believe Pliny is the best.
And this may blow your mind, but some other crazy people think some other beer is the best.
How can this be? Doesn't everyone like exactly the same thing?

 

Pliny paved the way. Heady pushed the envelope even further. Both are fantastic beers and I'm happy when I a chance to drink either.

 

A few years ago I had a DIPA that I thought was SO much better than Pliny the Elder. I made a post about it and everything. A shit ton of people made fun of me. In retrospect, I definitely deserved it.

This is practically a phase that many BAs need to go through. Some keep such thoughts to themselves while the less fortunate make posts about it and are duly and justifiably derided for it.

One day you will look back on this post and realize you were an idiot for making it, with a self-deprecatory laugh for the sake of levity. Should this not happen to you, that would be really unfortunate.

 

the heady topper blew me away, pliny is still fantastic though. both very drinkable but i feel like the heady was just on a different level IMO

 

My pliny is bigger than your pliny

 

Ive never had the privilege of having heady, which is absolutely unforgivable since I go to school two hours from the alchemist, but have drank my bodyweight in fresh pliny. I don't really get why this is a reoccurring argument, as I have always felt that pliny is the epitomy of a perfectly balanced, yet unbelievably complex IPA. Heady is more of a crazy floral hop-bomb right? How would you say it compares to something like Avery Maharaja or some of knee deep's crazier offerings? Just curious for someone to compare it to beers I have tried

 

Finally tried Heady.

IMO, you can't compare them. Two totally different beasts, and both are great.

 

If you want a balanced amazing DIPA find yourself a cisco island reserve double india pale ale. Unbelievable.

 

The Hulk could totally beat The Thing in a fight.

 

A group of us are discussing which is the superior IPA. We should probably have it all sorted out very soon.

 

I also believe the hulk was mentioned this morning to help sort things out.

It was either grab it bare handed, and risk the boo-urns, or take his snot-rag off of his shiny dome, and play it safe.........

He's the Hulkster after-all.....

 

Interesting...I was told per this website that only Great Lakes/Midwest BA were homers?
I thought Pliny was awesome, but truly believe that to each his own. I MAY share brewery or
beer style interest with others, but which beers we believe to be the best is always up for debate.

 

I feel the same way...I unfortunately cannot get heady ,but think lagunitas beers are also better than pliny....and hopslam as well.......it seems like b.a. ,rate beer.com,and other all put a value on availabilty. I still like da broz!

 

Only until we pass our ruling, then we'll tell you which one is the best...

obviously because california people have it in the top five and that's pretty much of a joke. it's a nice beer, but top five forget it.

 

And I sit in the middle without either:/ all I want it to do is try them. At least I have enough local breweries, and Fitger' growlers, to keep me happy.
