Anyone know details on this beer? I guess Toronado released more bottles, but I haven't heard any information if it is a new batch, bottle limits, or cost per bottle. halp!
I heard it was $50 for a 750. I've seen people posting pics of 4 bottles to as low as 1 bottle. Based on conjecture, these are usually pulled from the cellar and given out if the staff feels like it. That said, there are quite a few photos in the past week and it seems like they might have been a little loosey goosey on handing them out. No idea if it's a new batch or just leftovers.
Confirmed for sure: The bottles sold to go from Toronado are from the 2011 batch. There has not been a new batch produced. Cost of the bottle was $50 from what I heard. Probably the truth: From numerous sources (including those very close with the beer manager) there were about 4 cases brought up to the cooler between Tues/Wed to Friday of last week.
I didn't hear a confirmation from Toronado with my own ears or see it with my own eyes, hence the "probably the truth".
More speculation: when I was there on Wednesday they were for on-premise consumption only (or at least, that's what I was told when I bought one), and on Friday they were selling them to-go. I didn't inquire about the $240 3L of T25, but it seems those were to-go the whole time they had them.
Finally tried regular Cable Car this weekend...needless to say, CCK is now on the list. The offers being thrown around for this are incredible. Is this the first time bottles of this have been sold to go? Or, just the first time in a long time? I'd heard (from 3000 miles away while reading on the internet) that this hadn't really been sold to-go ever before. So, if you had a bottle before the last week, it likely originated from knowing people who know people, or so to say. I might be completely wrong, just curious. It sounds like an incredible beer.
Up in SF, it's even been rare for on-premise, compared to regular Cable Car. I've had Kriek, but only because there were a couple kegs at the last anniversary party. It's probably the best cherry beer I've ever had. Definitely has a little of that coconut aroma from the barrels as well.
That's not CCK, just CC. And I don't think '09 or '10 had real to-go sales, just handshakes and winks. '12 got a "real release" of about 20 cases or so. Edit: Right, forgot about '09. That was just a couple of cases, very minimal.
Cable Car 2009 they sold 9 bottles at the T25 anniversary party. I asked the guy when I bought one. Wasn't even a full case. Cable Car 2012 was like 20 cases. CCK is supposed to be like 40 cases in existence between both bars. I've heard 4 were sold to-go and 12 were sold to-go. Not totally sure on that but was told by friends who were there at the same time that some could get it and others got denied entirely. Depending on the bartender they got. Watch your bottles and keep them cool guys. I'd heard that some of these were gushers and/or bottle bombs. Mine went straight into fridge as much as I would've loved it to referment and gain some complexity in the bottle a bit at a cellar temperature... Not sure if anyone noticed, but they did have b4 Temptation 3L's available there as well last week for just $110. I love Toronado SF. I think spdkillz might freak out if/when he reads this.
That's almost my exact reaction. I live right here and miss Temptation 3Ls, T-25 3Ls, and CCK. UNFAIR. Also, this is the first and only time CCK has been sold to-go to the general public, at least that I'm aware of. I believe the reason is that they had really low yield, which I recall being (one of) the rationale(s) for it not being available at the anniversary in '11. It was on tap in '12, but no bottles. 4 cases wouldn't surprise me. It seemed like it wasn't much.
