Yep. The only way there's a hiccup is if he veto's... at that point we storm the castle.

When the site 1st relaunched, we were able to edit/delete whenever we wanted. It was convenient for ISO:FT, but since it didn't leave a note saying the post was edited, I could see that certain individuals (me) could pull some shenanigans. The Bros changed it to 15min a few weeks after the relaunch.

My Salt Lick bottle was off. The brett may have gotten out of control +(?). Tasted like rubber bands and didn't wait for me to pour before deciding it wanted out of the bottle. I drain poured it after a few sips over 30 minutes hoping warming up would help.

And as a disclaimer. I like smoke beers. I like sour beers. I really like brett beers. (And I've liked the smoked sour beers I've had in the past.)

Really need to dial in the QC sooner rather than later.

You make it sound like Ranger Creek-scale QC issues. I haven't seen many complaints about Jester King bottles having issues. I haven't had any issues with bottles (except Commercial Suicide tasting very unpleasant but that seems to be a slightly common opinion :stuck_out_tongue:). Have you had issues with other bottles too?

I wouldn't wish Ranger Creek's issues on anyone and no, it is not that bad. What I get from JK is inconsistency and extreme bottle variation. (Check out my Bonnie the Rare review. I have a hard time squaring that experience with other reviews.) The potential for a major issue is high. It just hasn't hit hard yet. At the current rate though, it eventually will. I would like them to succeed as I'm a fan of quality beer. I'm just not a fan of rolling the dice every time I buy a beer as to whether I will feel cheated or not.

On the plus side, they haven't given me my worst beer experience. That memory currently goes to Alpine's Chez Monieux. As someone who loves blue cheese, that beer STANK of blue cheese in a bad way.

In that case steer clear of Cantillon Cuvee St. Gilloise. That beer reeked of and tasted like bleu cheese. And I LOVE bleu cheese. But no. Never that beer again....

Huh, I had both this and the alpine mentioned... While the alpine did stink of cheese, it wasn't too bad, the extra sourness made up for it. Nthe st gilloise wasn't cheesy at all... Bad Bottle?

I believe that will be a brewery only release assuming all the new bills are not vetoed.

Maybe. Maybe a side effect of the dry hopping. But it tasted really weird and not pleasant.

Went out of my way to look for some beer, saw bottles of Das Uberkind! and Funk Metal in two stores in Bee Cave. I think two of each left.

I've had the Cuvee St. Gilloise at least a couple of times. Clonies' bottle indeed tasted like blue cheese but the bottle I had before then did not and was good. The blue cheese bottle was bad enough though to make me not want to try it again.

As always, did you refrigerate the bottle for atleast 24hours before opening? The only time I've ever had any gushing or flavors that seemed off in a JK beer in the last year and a half is when I've been impatient in opening a bottle before allowing it to chill. I usually try to put them in the fridge about two days ahead of time now.

This is important. I can vouch for it. Had the same issue with Funk Metal, but then again when the manufacturer tells you how to operate something and you don't do it, my personal motto comes into play: "Play stupid games. Win stupid prizes". My stupid prize was a marble counter full of precious Funk Metal :slight_frown: Just as tasty licking it up though.

One of my Salt Lick's was a gusher as well which was the first time I had that with a JK beer. I'm always good about keeping them in the fridge a few days, I don't think there were any off flavors, but I thought it was odd that it did gush out how it did.

I've had a Funk Metal completely explode out that was in the fridge for at least a month, so refrigerating it doesn't fix all issues. Every bottle of Salt Lick that I have seen opened (2) have been slow gushers (similar to Jolly Pumpkin). Not a huge deal but have your glass at the ready.
