A few months ago i inherited a 3L Double Bastard circa 2010. It was stored in a refrigerator since purchase and is now sitting in my 55F cellar. I normally drink these beers with 2-3 other people and can immagine that sharing that 3L will lead to some extra good times with a small group. I have no idea what to do with this beast.

How do you consume a 3L bottle of anything that strong?

I would bring it to a party but i think a 3 year old bottle of double bastard is a little much for people getting weird.

I had one a few years back, either an 2009 or 2010. Ended up breaking it out at a New year's party. Definitely something to share with a good sized group. Double Bastard was my gateway beer into craft beer so it'll always hold a special place in my heart. Be prepared for a long, wild night!

you buy it at a festival & share it with everyone in proximity because you've already had your fill of drink tickets. at least that's what my group of friends did at the stone winter storm & we had good times meeting lots of people, cheers!

Take it to a tasting. I sure people will love the novelty of it.

That is enough to destroy a small village. Great brew and good luck.

I actually bought two of those last year. One was shared with probably 6 other people on Thanksgiving, and everyone had so much fun with it that they all chipped in and I went and got another that we drank a month or so later. The novelty of it really is a big part of the fun (especially the first pour or two), but hey, it's a great beer and at that volume, it can be shared with a lot of people that you enjoy drinking beer with, so rock on.

Best part, by the way. Standing in line at the bottle shop holding a bottle that comes with a key and padlock and weighs as much as a medium sized child while other shoppers with a bottle or two of chardonnay give you funny looks.

I wish I had an old 3L to open at Darkness day this fall. I opened a magnum last year and it was a huge hit.

Drink it yourself at a beer event and then brandish it wildly.

We popped one open during our company xmas party last year, on the way to Russian River. It got about 20 of us seriously buzzed, and the trophy bottle makes for a great story still.

I split a 3L of Mad Elf last year during a football game with a friend, and I don't even really like Mad Elf. I think you'll find a way to empty the bottle!
