The Emperial smelled like old towels, but I think this one could be good. I'm a big fan of Rammstein and other German things.

I'm not creating a straw man. I've seen numerous threads on here with many individuals complaining/accusing Stone of not being able to (or at least are unwilling to) do anything other than IPAs. Anyways, it doesn't matter in the end. I just don't like being accused of something I didn't do.

Me too, but I think we are in the minority. Lots and lots hated it.

This sounds interesting, and hopefully it will be fantastic.

Get to try the red wine aged emperial ipa. It made me a believer in red wine barrel aging. Was beyond beer.

Aren't they deliberately a one trick pony?

It's hard to pretend otherwise when you only brew one beer.

I hope it's released at the beginning of August. I'm going down to the brewery at the beginning of August maybe I can get lucky.

I can tell you that in my one experience Polaris does not taste like ice candy and fruit, at least not in the pale ale I made. It tasted like mushrooms with a hint of mint.

That's kinda my point... Who cares if anyone is a "one trick pony" in the beer business? If the beer is good then drink it and stop complaining!!

I'm excited but dammit why does it have to be 9.5% ABV? Isn't 7 to 8% enough? I love the abundance of hops but how bout a little more drinkability?

If they were going for the German feel, i think they should have made a hoppy IPL like hoponious union.

Craft brewers sure have been interested in Nietzsche lately.

Edit: on second look, this seems homage to Wagner, rather, though I never would have thought Greg Koch a fan of opera.

How is it that so many people can fail to see the point of my post?! I was not bashing The Alchemist! I am well aware that they used to make many other beers! Reading comprehension and context go a long way...

I understand what you meant about a one trick pony thing. Obviously Stone has variety beyond IPA's, they just can't brew a good Belgian Style beer to save their life.
