Madrugada Obscura is fantastic. Took me a few sips to 'adjust' to such a crazy beer, but it then instantly became one of my favorites.

sour devil is the beer my beerfriend gave me to woo me to the other side (the sours)... (I am very pro-stout, so this was his best effort) It's not bad.... and that's from a girl who still requires much woo-ing to go to the sour side.

his next attempt is going to be delivered soon... a lambic... cantillon! (Gotta say, I'm excited to try it...)

Oy, I tried Dark Truth, and just could not get on board with the resiny/raisiny thing. Fwiw, it's available in DC though!

Can anyone confirm if Black Albert and Mikkeller Black are sour imperial stouts? I had them both @ dark lord day and they were both sour. I just read reviews on both and none say that they are sour.

There aren't many sour stouts. Most of them have already been named. Tart of Darkness is probably the most sour.

Do yourself a favor and don't. Fairly certain it was an infected batch of Dark Hollow they didn't want to waste. Absolutely terrible beer.

Try Funk Metal and Tart of Darkness during the same tasting and I think you'll find that Funk is more stout than sour and that Tart is more a roasty sour. It's interesting to see the spectrum, anyway.

Find the right bottle (not flat) and Aigre Pt5th is good too.

That is exactly how I feel about Funk Metal and TOD. Both great, but different. And Madrugada is also more "stout" but it's more milk stout, in my opinion.

I haven't had the regular Black Albert, but I had the barrel aged version (Cuvee Delphine) and there was nothing sour about it.

It's been said already but Tart Side of the Moon from Brewery Vivant, I thought it was pretty tasty.

I only know of a few that I've had, but Weyerbacher Sour Black is my personal favorite. Tart of Darkness was too tart and not enough darkness. If it's going to be a stout, might as well have it retain some stout characteristics.

Unless if you are joking like the guy who mentioned “peruvian morning” – Macadame was not meant to be sour, that is an infection.

Lots of nice once mentioned so far – would like to add Mikkeller Stella 2 & Alvinne Morpheus Wild.

I've been wanting to try that...
Funk Metal was a "go to" beer for me (even at $15-18) while it lasted. Tart of Darkness was more sour, so I'd give it a slight edge, but my first Funk Metal blew me away.

Yep, I'd agree. Madrugada does have some lacto-smokiness that makes it different from the others.
