Living in Nashville, TN + knowing anything about quality beer = continuous beer envy.

The world is full of great brew and if you can't have all of it you're not missing much.

Im only envious of those with easy access to Pliny and Heady. Other than that, its not that big of a deal.

Do you get Southern Tier down there? Their Unearthly and 2XIPA are great and I can get them at the grocery store any time. I bet you have great local stuff I can't get here. Possible trading?

Its really difficult to feel bad for you, since you're in Pennsylvania! You guys have pretty killer distribution.. Anyway, the trade forum isn't all about whales. You can get good shelf stuff for other good shelf stuff. There's plenty of people out there willing to do those kinds of trades. I've been successful with simple trades. You just gotta try.

I have to drive to Tennessee or Georgia or bribe someone there to get Stone, Lagunitas, Brooklyn, and DFH. Like what ya got.

I have a post in the trade forum saying trade stuff I can get easy but you can't and vise versa. It has 104 views and no responses.

I can afford pretty much any beer, but some beers are are major PITB to acquire. Some beers are ridiculously priced and a PITB to acquire. I don't want those beers. Beer only gets so good. There are plenty of excellent beers that aren't hard to get or super expensive.

I've never had a "cellar" because most beers are ready to drink two days after I buy them.

I get all those at the local supermarket and would love to trade simple stuff local to others for that kind of stuff. Just seems most of the ISO: are like vanilla bean dark lord and stuff like that. Do we need a seperate ISO: FT: for everyday, regional beer?

I don't have beer envy, I have brewery envy. Seeing someone just be able to stroll down to Cigar City, Founders or Three Floyds etc whenever the mood strikes them makes me so jelly.

So, appreciating what beers you have available, like most things in life, is a matter of perspective. I must admit that at least having some of the Stone and Lagunitas offerings here is nice.

I've tasted most of what you are talking about, and I can tell you that the beer I can get more easily locally is a step below the better of the rare beers, but a small step, and as good or better than the majority. I wouldn't know that if I hadn't chased rarity and been part of epic tastings, but now I just enjoy what local artists make, and what I brew myself, and never feel as though I am missing anything.

drink, drank, drunk, as far as I'm concerned. No, Yeah some of them do make me jelly. But I realize there is too much good beer available right here for me to even keep track of/

Here here. If Torpedo were a one day release done in an off the map location you'd see some mighty different reviews for it.

Sculpin is highly overrated, I'd rather drink Double Trouble. Zombie Dust is phenominal, but you're talking to a guy who isn't into double ipa's anymore, so a good apa is what I'm looking for when I don't want anything sour.

very much this. i'm jealous of distribution and local brewery options. ultimately after hunting all the whales bro you end up just enjoying what is locally available to you.

    This.

I've been around enough to know that other's "must have" might often be something I will not like. Also helps that so many others hold in super high esteem are of a style I don't care for (IPA).

I DO wish that I could get to more breweries tho. 2 in town. One isn't real inviting and the other is a brewpub with excellent beer - just not much for the brewery experience. I suppose I have to settle with Bell's opening a brewery in Escanaba - 2 hours away but I do have family in the area so it will be easier to visit and enjoy without worrying about driving.

I feel moderately lucky in what I've been able to try lately. I've found Pliny, KBS, Doom, Parabola, and a few others that some people think are completely impossible to get. I've even heard of people that think Founders Double Trouble is an impossible beer to find! The people I'm envious of are the people that can pull an entire case of KBS when I can only get one or two bottles if I'm extremely lucky.
