I have a chance to score one of these bottles in a trade and would like to hear what people think of the beer. I have looked it up and read about it but would like to know if anyone has opened one recently. Has it aged well? Is it worth the hype ? Let me know if you have any feed back.

I was able to try it at reserve society initiation. Both the old lady and I thought it was fantastic

One time, I was at a bar when they tapped a keg of Wanderer. I ordered it 5 times in a row, and my only regret is not ordering it a sixth time.

It's fucking delicious. I've also been told it's currently right about at its peak, so if you ever want to try it, now is the time.

This is what I was wanting to know. I also have heard its at it peak and seems this could be the reason Im seeing it more on the trade forum now. How much was the bottle when sold any clue?

I think when it was first sold at City Beer it was $20? The last time I saw a bottle for sale it was $50 and on-premise only.

Your probably seeing more since the just released 144 more bottles at the bruery. 1 bottle per person and 35 a pop. I saw a thread doing the math and I think they figured that makes it only like 1k bottle or so ever released to go.

    Cheers!

I'm probably in the minority but, even though I was glad to have the opportunity to try it (thanks Shilt!!), I thought it was way, way over the hill. Super acidic and vinegary... you know, your typical bruery AWA nowadays.

How are you really supposed to know when a beer is at its peak? Unless you can taste the future its impossible to know.

I've had it a few times now, including just a few weeks ago, and I've never been impressed. It would have a firm "sell" rating from me, you'll get much better beer than it without much hassle.

But then again, I seem to be the curmudgeon about these things lately.

I just opened mine that I have been sitting on for a bit. It tasted great to me. A touch of sour, but not overwhelming. The fruit flavors were still there, but I assume a bit faded. Drink now!

had it twice during their anniversary celebration last year & thought it was pure fantastic. other beers that were tried at the same time were otiose, sans pangie, BT, melange 3, and a couple others. wanderer was my favorite at the time

I opened one a few months ago alongside 20 or so other sours and I thought it was one of the highlights of the evening. I understand where SpeedwayJim is coming from as it was a little acidic, but I still found plenty of berry fruits and the like.

I'm pretty sure The Wanderer is my favorite Bruery sour

Slightly different, but I just had it on tap at City Beer's birthday party. It was awesome. I've never had it before, so I can't really comment on if it's any different or not.

Good call on asking about The Wanderer.

And good to know your thoughts on it, Stupac2. I guess I will just sit on mine to use as beer currency.

I had it for the first time a couple weeks ago and I thought it was excellent. Nice sourness without being vinegary and a nice subtle fruit character. I've heard people say the fruit has fallen off, but I think it's drinking really nicely right now.
