fair enough I guess, but then again there must be dozens of beer names that have the potential to offend the right people. where do you draw the line? weyerbacher insanity ok? what about three floyds permanent funeral? schizophrenia is probably not a name I would personally go with, but I also think there's enough to be offended by in this world without getting all riled up at the name of a beer...

also, yes this does sound tasty.

I have no problem with the name of this beer, but if they name their next chocolate stout Walking Farts I will defend my grandmother's honor until the bitter end.

Simply enough there is a medical definition and a common definition (taking the first google search result):
a state characterized by the coexistence of contradictory or incompatible elements.

And I could be offended by your inaccurate regurgitation of false American history that is running rampant lately. The term "native americans" needs to go away since there is/was no such thing. Slavery was widely accepted without regard to race or origin. In fact, the origin of the word (Slav), comes from the Slavic people (White Europeans) who were widely enslaved.

Furthermore, not all Indians find Redskins to be offensive. Ask one of my best friends, BA Corpulent (a 'native' as you label it) what he thinks about Redskins, Warriors, Chief Wahoo etc. . ., he thinks you're all disingenuous to use his heritage to push your agenda. So quit stereotyping 'natives', especially since I thought that was a bad thing?

Half you guys thinking its offensive were in the Papal Conclave thread just loving the Pater Malus imagery, even though that is plenty offensive.

Better stop calling beers with coffee in them coffee beers. Someone may have a family member who died from coffee.

Now with that said, I had Schizophrenia, the beer, at the FW Invitational. Its awesome, one of Southern Tier's best beers, and I like quite a few of their beers. . .

    Haha. Thanks for the laugh.

First off, when we say Native Americans there is a context there. Were they the first people every to inhabit the American Territory? That is unlikely. Were they native to that land when white settlers came over? Certainly.

Second, I never said it was offensive to EVERY Native American, but there is a general consensus in the Native American community that this term is derogatory. It is not only uptight white people who are fighting to change this name; Native American leaders have also led the charge.

Third, I don't have an agenda; just making an observation.

From everything I've heard it was going to be very limited and only on tap at the brewery. But then FWI had it, and now I'm hearing a bar in Buffalo will have it for a tap take over soon.

Does the term Breast Cancer have an alternate meaning?

Merriam-Webster indicates schizophrenia can also mean :contradictory or antagonistic qualities or attitudes. My point being you and others jumped quickly to a conclusion when clearly the term has other uses. I am of the belief that Southern Tier did not deliberately use the name in context related to the disease itself.
