Who's going? It's got some decent craft breweries, but nothing super exciting. Apparently, Bud Light Lime a Rita will be there too... That's cool thy are having a beer fest, but $50 seems a bit steep to me. If you're going to charge that much, wouldn't you try to have breweries you don't normally see around here (like Brewvival)?
$50, no thanks. Brewvival is 15 more and pretty much the best beer festival in the south east. I am not sure what they were thinking with that pricing.
Gotta admire the focus of posting the food vendors and free VIP liquor, but not the beer, for a beer fest...
The way I see it, as a bitter 5th generation Charlestonian, is that Mt.P is an "uppity" type place, full of transplants, yuppies, and the well off. Don't get me wrong, I know folks over there that are "normal" like the rest of us, but the majority fall into the "uppity" classification. There's nothing wrong with those people, that's just not my crowd. I guess you have to cater to your target market though. Price is obviously not an issue for them. Brewvival, is a bit steep for me, BUT I totally get it. They have amazing breweries that come with very special releases and first time releases. I've contemplated getting a ticket, but something usually happens, or I just can't bring myself to do it. I'm a bit of a cheap a$$ though, so no disrespect to anyone.
I hear ya about Mt. P, but don't lump us "trasnplants" in with those Mt. P degenerates. Without transplants you wouldn't even have a craft beer scene around Charleston, or SC for that matter. Or a beer exchange, or a brewvival, etc etc. As a matter of fact, youd still be drinking < 6% beers and would probably have one brewery in the city. (Thank you Jaime, NJ transplant) With out transplants SC would basically be.... Mississippi. Is that really what you want?
That's true, like I said though, nothing wrong with those folks. Those are the folks that do good around town and have left a positive light on the area. Not the ones that complain about how slow Charleston is, how there's wildlife invading their space, etc... Unfortunately, it's the rest of SC that brings the rest of us down. If only the Charleston metro could succeed from SC, we'd be alright.
Y'all should do a beer in homage to all of us natives. Call it Bitter Beenyah. Cause y'all owe it to us... You take our lands, our women, and move in with your fancy beers and modern technologies.
