I'm heading to Baltimore this week and was wondering if anyone knew of any great craft beer stores in the area or even on the way. I'm traveling from NH so I would love to come back with a nice haul of beer I can't get up here. Thanks!

Don't know what the stores are like in NH but Shawan liquors right off Rt. 83 south exit 21 or 20, Shawan Rd in Hunt Valley Md. Best craft beer store within a 50 mile radius of where I live in south central PA

As dmeadows posted above, State Line Liquors in Elkton, MD. Probably the best combination of selection and pricing around. Buy by the sixer, case or singles. Right off of I-95 for easy off, easy on access. There's also a Total Wine in Towson, just off of 695, that's pretty good. Perfect Pour in Elkridge, as 1fJef suggests, has a good selection but pricing seems to be a little higher. Other canidates would be Wine World in Bel Air, MD, just off of I-95, and Honeygo Liquors in Nottingham, about 5 minutes off of I-95.

    Wine Source in Baltimore.
Best selection and staff in town.

    You are welcome

I'd pass on the Perfect Pour as you can find as good a selection with much better prices elsewhere.

State line is a great choice. It would be exit 109 off I-95 and practically within sight of 95. Wine world would be a good choice too. It is close to 95 at the route 24 exit which is I think exit #77. Both places have a great selection and would be on your way home

State line is what you are looking for i think, if your heading for the Annapolis area I would suggest Fishpaws and Bayridge.

True, and Perfect Pour is not at all on the way from NH to Baltimore.

++State Line for the selection, best price, nicest grogstaff. If you need glassware they have the biggest selection/cheapest prices around anywhere. Many people miss this cause it's way in the back past the coolers.

When in downtown Baltimore, might consider a stop for a pint at Max's. With 140 rotating drafts, 5 Hand-Pumped Cask Ales, and a world-spanning collection of approximately 1200 bottled beers in stock.
Recomend Brewers Art's Resurrection, Green Peppercorn Triple and Ozzy Ale for some B'more brewed Belgian style to take home, you can find these at State Line.

-beware the website is notoriously behind on listing their current offerings, but you can get an idea anyhow.

As others have indicated, State Line is your best bet, if you plan on driving down I-95 to Baltimore (it's just off the interstate). Be sure to join their club (there's no cost, and you can either join on-line or at the store). If you end up buying a bunch of stuff there (which is hard to avoid, once you see their selection), it will definitely save you some money.

Also, if you are driving down on I-95, do NOT take I-95 all the way into Maryland if you plan on visiting state line. Take the hiway 896 exit for Newark (Deleware), go left at W. Chestnut Hill Rd (you have to drive through the intersection in order to go right on a cloverleaf turn that will take you back up up to Chestnut Hill heading south - you can't make a left from hiway 896 onto W. Chestnut Hill), drive roughly two miles and make a right onto Iron Hill Road. Iron Hill will end at Hiway 279/Elkton Road, with the State Line parking lot on your left, right as you reach 279/Elkton Road. By doing this you will save time and also avoid the Deleware/Maryland state line toll. Check google maps for the area around 896 to get a better idea what I'm talking about.

    Good luck.

    if you don't mind a drive-State line
    baltimore city: wine source
baltimore county: Jason's Wine and Spirits, Pefect Pour.

driving down to DC may be worth your while to pickup some Founders.

Why would he want to drive down to DC to obtain some Founders? Assuming he'll be coming down on I-95, he'll be coming through Philly and SEPA, where Founders is readily available (and considerably easier to find than in DC). Also, while prices for beer in Philly bottles shops can be pretty high, I doubt they match the nearly obscene prices one can encounter in DC. Just saying...

Also Leepa_time, if the OP is unfortunate enough to be out in West Baltmore Country and/or Howard County, looking for craft beer, then I would recommend Pine Orchard over either Jason's or the Perfect Pour. Granted, the PP has a much better selection than Pine Orchard, while Jason's selection is slightly better (I would argue), but price-wise, Pine Orchard beats both places by a country mile (especially if one takes advantage of their on-line discount coupons).

This. Plus Stateline. The Wine Source is a great place. Perfect Pour is not.
