In your state, which brewery is coming up strong? Good product, good marketing, expanding well, but not the leader of the pack at the moment. Which brewery in your state shows promise of being "trade worthy" material and WHY?

For me, in Florida, Cigar City obviously is the forerunner in the craft beer scene. Of the 90+ breweries, there are many that make fantastic beer, some that make mediocre stuff, and a few that I have serious doubts about. However, one that I have had on tap time and time again, at beer events, and just makes flat out great beer is Swamp Head Brewery. They are, seemingly, growing quite well and don't just do crazy styles and one offs that get high praise. They have a solid base lineup through a variety of styles and execute them all very well. They have some limited one offs and collaboration brews that keep things interesting, and their marketing, expansion, branding & label work are impressive.

So, whose coming up in your state? Whose gonna be on the national beer "map" in the near future?

Olde Hickory--not the craft leader in NC but super solid.

Event Horizon is trade worthy now.
Reedemer DIPA is super solid and their barrel aged version (oak) on tap was a top 5 for me this year--would love to see it bottled as it is trade worthy.

Westcoast in SC (not far) is gaining notoriety with a super solid IPA--have not had enough of their special releases due to limited distribution but keep hearing really good things.

NYC/metro has some really good stuff happening.

I could see Singlecut in Queens being at Stone/Lagunitas levels in 5-10 years. They do popular styles well and have an irreverent sense of humor. They are too new to have really done much innovative stuff, but I know they are brewing sours as we speak and have some more unique stuff on the schedule for release this summer and fall.

Barrier on the Queens/LI border is probably the most likely to gain notoriety in the BA community. They have Zythosaurus, a very unique DIPA/Imperial Amber that I think is spectacular. And the second bottle release they did was a very nice RIS named Morticia. They also do standard fare very well.

I've had less of their offerings, but I'm very excited to try more Peekskill and Port Jeff stuff as well.

Blue Lobster Brewing - One of the brewers previously worked at Hill Farmstead. There's already a lot of buzz about them. I have yet to try any of their offerings myself but they're way up on my list.

Nothing is really Blowing my mind here other than Prairie, I think it is safe to say it has jumped to the top of the charts in the Sooner State ( although Coop, Marshall & Choc still outsell them I'm sure )& seems to get plenty of outta state love.

I nearby Missouri, I really like what Mother's Out of Springfield is doing

In Arkansas three up & comers Core, Saddlebock & Fossil Cove have impressed me so far, but a small sample size to be sure

In Cincinnati we have a good number of new breweries opening up that has everyone buzzing. MadTree started brewing and releasing cans just about a month ago and the reception has been amazing. The beer so far has been great. If you can get your hands on some, check them out!

I called it a year ago, Pipeworks here in Illinois. I travel a lot so ill also add Westbrook (SC) and 7venth Sun (FL) to the discussion. In Chicago Revolution is climbing and Atlas is making some pretty tasty beers. Put them in watch.

Not to argue, but what other brewery OTHER than Cigar City has been noteworthy in FL in the past few years? As for OR, I would put Block 15 in that category. They are not a recent hitmaker, but their consistency and off-the-radar top offerings have been superb, to put it mildly.

They have been talking about bottling Bodhi for a long time..... I'd like to see that happen, because when it does show up on tap here, which is quite often, it's usually bars/restaurants that don't growler fill.

There is a brand new brewery in San Jose, Ca. called Santa Clara Valley Brewing that has a huge potential...can't wait to see what happens with them.

There are tons of littpe guys making waives in Florida, although many of those might be because of how hard they are to trade for as they are for quality, such as Jonathan Wakefield Brewing, Seventh Sun, and Funky Buddha.

As for California, I'd say Sante Adairius or Societe.

The one beer they've release so far, Electric Tower IPA, was really good. Kind of hard to judge off of that, but Steve's old stuff at Firehouse was really good.
