Does the original Abacus (before it was named Sucaba) have any higher of a trade value? If so, what is the general trade value of it? Thanks folks.
The fresher vintages are better, but you might be able to find somebody who mistakes beer for baseball cards and thinks the rookie card is more highly desirable.
After having had a lot of FW reserve stuff between bottles and a visit to the Barrelworks, I'm getting of the opinion that it's all best with about 1 year on it.
He didn't ask you how it tasted, he asked what the trade value was. OP I think if you had the vertical of said beer, it would be more desireable.
It trades like an $18 shelf beer that was available to be purchased in bulk across many different geographic locations
I personally would give a lil bit more jazz for it given the 2 year vintage but nothing crazy, I had one 3 months ago and thought it was phenomenal. These apparitions of "barreeellllll fadessss" etc seem largely overstated. Ehams said it best "i like when you can bring a regular abacus to a tasting and it is still usually one of the most praised beers there."
in regard to taste, I had one a couple weeks ago and thought it was still phenomenal. In regard to value maybe something $4$ of another beer from 2011. That being said, even in Ohio I have never had trouble getting the fw limited release beers and they are not even distributed here. Frankly if you have the beer just drink it, you probably won't trade it for anything better and hell you already have a world class beer.
i had abacus the other day. my expectations weren't that high since everyone says abacus doesn't age well but it was delicious. better than fresh : )
