It's similar to the guitar market, some brands (Fender, Gibson) make a living rehashing the same thing over and over again. These brands have a loyal following and their fan base doesn't want to try anything new.

And all the sophisticated people were drinking it. This marketing has to normally pay dividends though, or they wouldn't spend the money on it.

In other news, a new liquid slug-bait has just hit the market.

I think the target market for Black Crown and Platinum was the younger age group of regular Budweiser and Bud Light consumers, respectively, and make them pay more money for a faux premium brand. Black Crown was an attempt to ride on the success of Platinum. Platinum succeeded because Bud Light is so popular among younger drinkers. Bud Light with more booze is a no brainer to your typical underage drinker or frat daddy. You don't see younger people drink nearly as much Budweiser, so I think that's why we have seen Black Crown flop.

So the sheeple followed the big ad campaign for a minute and now once again another mass marketed swill fails..
I for one LOVE that fact..

Agreed - the brand never found it's niche and after curiosity-buyers had their fill, it died. Same seems to be true with Platinum, hard to tell on a national basis. I tried them both and they both had a similar taste profile.

Same for Beck's Sapphire. It came out, piqued some interest, and fizzled out soon thereafter.

So, if it is true that Black Crown, Black Sapphire and Bud Lite Platinum have ‘fizzled’ what does that say about the AB InBev marketing prowess? What is next, Bud Light Black Berry a rita?

    Cheers!

There was a store sampling of black crown and platinum not too long ago.. Tried both and couldn't differentiate between the two, just flavorless and makes you sad on the inside when you drink it.

Whoever did that ad obviously has not a single clue about the audience the beer should be reaching. Honestly, I'd fall out of my chair if any of the image stereotypes in the ad would be seen in a bar or whatever, drinking a beer in the first place. But I digress. More succinctly. With the cast of the ad so miscast. There was no actual audience the beer was able to reach so this was merely just an awful lot of pissing in the wind. Good riddance.

Not sure Jack. I am guessing that they aren't sure either.

On a side note, I tried the lime-a-rita and it was pretty good. Very tart and flavorful, on ice quite refreshing.

Sorry not going to use a craft beer to soak sausages in, besides the flavor comes from the onion and butter anything left on the brat is burned off when browned, a good option to pouring them down the drain I think.

“On a side note, I tried the lime-a-rita and it was pretty good.” Interesting. I had a small sample at my local beer distributor. It had a chemical type taste, to my palate.

    Cheers!

I work for an independent distributor, so I am curious and try a lot of stuff. A friend brought the lime-a-rita to dinner, it was 98 degrees outside and it really hit the spot. Not sure I would buy it, but I enjoyed it.

I like black crown. My buddy got some and let me have one. I wouldn't seek it out but I would definitely have another.
