Anyone had this in the last 6 months?

Common advice is that its probably past its prime by now. I think either way drinking it soon is the best plan but curious if anyone has any suggestions based of what they tasted recently.

Just had one on Monday. It's still banging good, getting a much more velvety sweetness to me than previous times I've had it. I won't say past it's prime, or over the hill, but I slightly preferred it within the first year of release.

It's still good, but I moved mine from the wine fridge to the regular fridge months ago. I'd recommend it if you won't be drinking soon. I don't think aging is going it any good at this point.

They tell you 5 yrs on the bottle I believe but usually in the 2-3rd yr is when they are best and the ones I've tasted in the last 3 months have been delicious.

I had one about a month ago and it was absolutely fantastic! Having said that, I didn't have the good fortune to try it fresh, so it may not be as good as it was, but it's still a great beer (probably top 3 for me).

Had it at GI block party a few weeks ago. Still great. Not a ton of carbonation, but I never had it fresh so I don't know if thats how it is or just the age

Still amazing, without a doubt. I tried one about 8 months ago and it was life changing...I traded for one shortly after that and stored it in my fridge before opening it at a bottle share a couple weeks ago. It was still absolutely freaking incredible.

    Now, I'm trading for more.

Drank mine a couple of months ago, it was superb.

I cannot imagine it will get any better if that's what you're getting at.

The rare poured at the GI party was not carbed.

I had one two months ago. I thought it was mediocre.

I had it over a year ago and it was definitely past its prime. Very syrupy and sweet, didn't coat the mouth like typical BCBS. I'd be highly disappointed if I traded a whale for it, but I was happy to try it. My advice to those seeking it out is to avoid it simply because of what you'll have to give up, but if you happen to be lucky enough to score a BA Hunahpu's or something similar in rarity from your local brewery then I guess it's worth it. It's all opinion, others still think it's drinking great.

Had a Rare last Sunday along side Vanilla, Bramble, Cherry Rye and an 09 BCBS bomber. The Rare stole the show for myself and the 4 others that shared the tasting. In case your wondering I have had Rare before and to me it's not past it's prime. (IMHO)

We had one a couple weeks back and it was sublime! Still delicious and well worth its weight.

I've been debating whether to drink or trade my last Rare, but I think this thread may convince me to crack it open soon. Good to hear (from most folks in here) that it's still drinking great.

The more I read posts like this...the more I consider a "Wednesday night" maybe a special enough night to pop a bottle.. I've had mine in the cellar waiting for a situation that was suitable for popping and drinking this, and to be honest, none have come as of yet...Or if they did, many others beers were popped instead...SO...it maybe time to pony up, and make a night special, rather than wait for a special night :-]

I like your thinking here. Too many BAs (myself included) get in that "saving for a special occasion" frame of mind and end up with cellars/stashes with hundreds of "special occasion" beers that will be well-past-prime when finally opened. There will always be more special beers, but we only get a limited number of days to enjoy them.

Indeed, the special occasion IS opening the beer.
