Are these guys making enough beer to move beyond Santa Cruz or is it hyper-local right now?

I have had their beers in Oakland and San Francisco, so they are slowly moving beyond. I am happy to see them stay hyper-local, as it gives me a good excuse to road trip down there and go surfing and then drink beer.

Hyper local at the moment but I would not be surprised to see them have more of a presence in the bay area within the next six months to a year.

The good news is that they just doubled their brewing capacity.
The bad news is that their demand has increased so much that they had to eventually pull all of their beer out of even the local Santa Cruz accounts, just so they would have enough to sell at their tap room. I'd imagine that their recent expansion will only get them back pretty much to where they were six months ago, distribution-wise.

Technically they have quadrupled their brewing capacity (3 new fermenters) but yes, to your point, the tasting room has definitely gotten a lot more popular over the recent months and that is probably their first priority.

It sure better be, they make a lot more money in the tasting room because they're selling at retail without any middlemen. There's 0 reason to distribute if you can sell the beer on-site, hence RR pulling out of Washington. Hopefully the increased demand there will result in faster expansion.

If I can get more West Ashley, Maiden Fields and Love's Armor, I'm happy.

Word around the grapevine is they're releasing 300 more bottles of appreciation. Not too sure if this is true at all.

Also, they got some Jamaican rum barrels they will use next. Sounds crazy!

Old news on the rum barrels, and if they do release more Appreciation, it is NOT the same batch.

I work there. We just got the capacity to quadruple production. We have a 660 gallon foudre that is filled with barrel-aged saison. Right now we are still really small, only providing the tap room. But while we installed the new fermenters we couldn't brew besides small homebrew batches. We are releasing West Ashley an Apricot Saison, hopefully this weekend. But we will have very little beer for about a month more. Then at that time we will probably be able to go into some local accounts, and various locations around the Bay Area. Appreciation will not come out again for some time.

Does anyone have any extra bottles they'd like to spare? PM me as I'm up in the South bay for the weekend and wouldn't mind an IP trade.

If people want it they'll pay it I guess

Don't take this the wrong way, but I'm not sure if I believe you... West ashley was released and sold out the same weekend, for $18 a bottle..
