If you were going to trade a BA Framinghammer, how much rarity/value/quantity would you be looking for in trade?

    (Just a curious amateur trader)

Not much/$5/Equivalent to the first two.

Nah. I've thrown it in as a well-appreciated extra or to even $. If you're looking to structure a trade around it, just expect solid locals.

For me, it doesn't matter how hard it was for anyone else to get... All I personally needed to do was stop at the same store on my way home from work every day for more than two months and give the nice man 7 dollars. So in that respect, it's about as rare as Harpoon IPA and I trade it as such.

Yes, the regular BA Framinghammer was a shelf beer (and fortunately stuck around for a decent amount of time). The variants were more or less a brewery-only release day, though (one store also had them for one day).

I agree that it doesn't have much more trade value than 'quality local' and $4$ it was inexpensive compared to similar beers you'd trade for. I was looking forward to the release and actually expected it to get some interest on the trading board, given that it was a BA beer that got excellent reviews from a brewery that has gotten a lot of noise over the last year. I suppose because it was not hard to get and was only a 'baltic porter' and not an 'imperial stout' it never really garnered that much excitment outside of the area. It's funny how trade values can work.

I haven't had the coffee or vanilla variations but they definitely have a bit more trade value. Considering JA plans to release a big batch of them this year and presumably another big batch of regular Framminghammer next March, I expect none of them will ever be that coveted for trades. But I think that they drink with the best of them and if trading was really about quality and not rarity they would have more interest.

Having newly moved to the area....I'd add that we in MA consider JA as having gotten a lot of interest almost to the point that them being new and great is not news anymore. In the rest of the country, people haven't heard of them very much. I have friends who are plenty knowledgeable BA members and chase beers all over the country who when I sent JA indicated they had no idea who they were. So there is still some regionality despite BA and the like...

This is the wrong forum for this. In order to properly hype a beer and squeeze its trade value, you post in the General Trading forum. You asked pretty much the right way, but everyone in MA knows this stuff is fantastic and the smart ones want to keep its trade value low so that it remains MA's best seasonal shelf turd.

Don't trade it. It may only be worth $5-$6 but it drinks like a $12 beer

I just had my first one last night. Totally agree. I can see why Yankee Spirits and Gasbarros sold out of it right away.

Originally from MA and now in NH. Found it at Mucky's when visiting and bought a case in May because it was that good. Called the other day and bought up the rest. I can't get enough.

Unfortunately it's more or less gone at this point, but a few random stores might have a small quantity. It was released 3 months ago and frankly I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did
