    Just had an 09 Smutty Baltic Porter and it was amazing. I've always loved this beer, but never aged one that long. I have to say it got better - if that was possible. Anyone else dig this stuff?

    Drinking one fresh made me think it would be really good with a year on it. It's a good porter fresh but it's a bit too robust for me. I was cellaring one like you mentioned but ended up extra ing it instead.

    I like it fresh, and have aged it a year or a year and a half before. This one with 3 years was maybe hitting the sweet spot. A wonderful beer.

    I am a big fan of this beer. It smells great and tastes even better. I have a couple bottles in the cellar to age and will probably now keep at least one for three years. Thanks for info.

    I've only ever had this fresh (this year), and it was great stuff. It's also a steal at just over $5 each. I really should pick some up to stash away for later years.

    Smuttynose is an awesome brewery and pretty underrated I think. Their beers are all reasonably priced and usually solid at worst. Baltic Porter is my favorite and absolutely delicious. I picked up several bombers this year and plan on aging a few. It's one of the few Baltic porters that tastes very different from an imperial stout or the like to me. Between it and their Robust Porter, they are the king of porters for me.

    Smutty makes some awesome beers. Check out their Robust Porter, Finestkind IPA, Big A IPA, and Farmhouse Ale.

    It was excellent when I had it last year. I haven't tried it aged though. Looks like I will be picking up some to age next time I visit my folks. I am slightly upset that I cant get them in MI. They make great beer across the board as far as I am concerned. Never been disappointed by Smutty

    Slightly....then you realize you can get Founder's, and Bell's, and Kunhenn, and Short's, and Dark Horse, and Dragonmead, and Jolly Pumpkin, and Brewery Vivant, and.........

    Lol yep. And that is the tradeoff for what I lost for moving to MI(Troegs too). It would be amazing if Smutty started distributing to MI, but I am in heaven up here with my new access to Shorts a beers in particular. Plus JP is way easier to get now than when I was in OH. Michigan beer is amazing

    Smutty and their sister brewery Portsmouth(you know the Kate the Great brewery) both are top notch.
