If you have no beer, drink them. If you have beer, still drink them.

Your beer isn't rare. You should go ahead and try them.

man, way to deflate his excitement. may I remind all of you that "rare" is relative to the eye of the beholder.

to me bcbs isn't rare.... but Columbus IPA is.

my advice to the OP: wait until you're really in the mood for each. If you're jonezing for one right now, go for it! That's how you're guaranteed to enjoy each the most.

An exclamation point is not the magic wand that will turn your froggy shelf turds into princely rares

Seriously though, if you have not had them before, drink them now. No point in aging a beer if you have no fresh basis for comparison

I read the thread title thinking you happened upon a stash of Bourbon County Rare.. imagine my disappointment!

but in all seriousness OP, go ahead and give those brews a go when you feel like drinkin' them next. I don't think you'll have much trouble finding more of these. Plus like the poster above me said, it's better when you've got a baseline of fresh vs for comparision's sake.

Cheers man and enjoy those brews! (barrel-aged Rasputin is great, albeit a bit pricey)

Thanks, but I'm all traded out. I spent (brace yourself) over $500 in trades this month. I'm a greedy fucking bastard sucking on way too many weird barrel-aged beers. UPS likes me a wee too much as of late.

I do love that stupid IPA of yours.... it needs to be distributed here.

I normally refrain from posting drunk, but to each his own I guess.

I wish I could get that excited about those. Also, I've lived in NE, NW, and central Ohio. I've never had problems getting those. Enjoy.

For some reason a lot of people are under the impression that aging beer will always make better beer and it just isn't the case. American Barleywines need some cellar time and some sours will improve with age but 95% of the beers that people cellar will either hold steady or degrade.

That being said that Old Raspy was pretty boozy when I had it about 6 months ago so maybe some time will help it mellow (or maybe it is drinking perfect right now) only one way to find out. My advice is just drink the best beer you can find and don't worry about "rarez" or any of that other bullshit.
