For your first official beer to be sold at the brewery today. It was BB3 and I believe it was only $8. The new laws are kicking in.

I think the size limit is 250,000 bbls. Saint Arnold's production in 2012 was 50,000 bbls.

They were not selling it to go. Any existing production brewery could have started selling pints for on site consumption as of Friday when the bills were signed by the governor.

Thanks icetrauma. Pretty awesome today. Things like that will continue, though not always Bishop's Barrel. Sometimes it will be one-off casks.

All beers/bottles will be for on premise consumption since we're above the 10,000bbl mark.

On premises is fine for production breweries... the only one that might be over the limit is Shiner/Spoetzel (and of course BMC)

WELL DAMN I was planning a trip to shiner when I heard PRICK perry had signed the bills. Guess that trip is a no go.

I'd had one if I was there.
Beware the price police from other threads will find this since many bought BB3 for 6-7 at retail, with distributor and retail markup included.

Looks like it is fine for Brewery to charge equal or more after all. I'm sure the other two tiers appreciate not being undercut. Harmony in the tiers.

Pricing can be complicated. IMO, if a brewery offers their beer for less, it can diminish the value of the beer in the mind of the consumer and make it less likely the consumer will spend more in pubs and restaurants. My understanding is that Saint Arnold will price their special beers at what pubs and restaurants typically charge. They will continue to include their normal beers with the price of their tours. Breweries can certainly charge less, but they risk devaluing their beer and risk hurting their relationships with the people at the accounts who decide what to put on tap and in their fridge. With so many options now, why carry a brand that is telling the market that it really isn't worth as much as pubs and restaurants are charging?

I specifically remember when I was at Left Hand in Longmont years ago they had a specific beer I wanted. They said it was available in the market at certain local stores but they wouldn't be selling it at the brewery for another week. In other words, they released it to their regular accounts a week or two ahead of time to keep them happy. I was disappointed but it seems to be the norm.

I also remember being surprised the first few times I visited a brewery that the prices weren't lower then everywhere else. Again, I think they don't want to portray or have an unfair advantage over the people that sell their beers. I think the advantage is knowing the beer is usually extremely fresh when purchased at the brewery whereas it can be a crap shoot somewhere else.

This obviously addresses this thread but the JK pricing as well

I paid $8 for my one bottle and I am very happy with the purchase and of course the experience.
