I know this isn't a style that gets an overt amount of love (or respect...RESPECT IT) on the boards, but it IS summer time, and this is a beer that I think most can agree with accentuates the warmer months quite well. I also can't be the only fervent proponent of hefe's up here, so please, discuss. What are your favorites? Don't be afraid to bring in the kristall's, dunkel's, and weizenbock's, etc. either. Which ones do you hate? Which ones do you wish you could get your hands on more readily? Do you prefer the American brewed or the German ones? And for the love of god, someone tell me why I haven't tried Live Oak's brew yet...

    Cheers!

NG Dancing Man and Schneider Aventinus. I'm typically a stout/IPA drinker but these are two of my favorites.

Said it before and will say it again, Dry Dock HefeWeizen and Live Oak HefeWeizen are both great representations of the style.

Schneider Weiss and Weihenstephan beers. Last month i went to the Weihenstephan brewery and the Schneider Weisse restaurant in Munich. So. Good.
I really like Aventinus Wheat dopplebock, mein hopfenweisse, Vitus and Weihenstephan Hefeweissbier. Amazing beers.

Just finished drinking a couple of Sierra Nevada's Kellerweis, which I think is pretty damn good. I also really like Weihenstephaner.

Although I haven't had a lot of weizens I couldn't tolerate New Glarus Dancing Man Wheat or Laughing Fox, because both are clove bombs. I don't mind when clove is subtle like in Kellerweis or Weihenstephaner, but too much and it's like doing the cinnamon challenge.

The native Texas BAs can answer better, but Live Oak is a keg only brewery so no bottles to send your way. However, Growler Room can fill a growler of it if you find an Austin TX trade buddy.

I drink Hefe's year-round, they got me into craft and I'll hardly turn one down. It's a great style to start out with any night of the year IMO. I think the Live Oak Hef is great, but my favorite is probably the Hofbrau Munchnerweisse I had multiple liters of in Munich. Call me sentimental. My second favorite weissebier in Munich (not necessarily ever) was Paulaner's. Wolf Creek in Valencia CA does a great Hef, on par with Live Oak's I think. I like Weihenstephaner's kristall the best.

I tend not to buy Hefe's except in bars, and when I do buy one, I'll usually just try one I haven't had. If I've had them all, and I really want a Hefe, I'll either go with Live Oak if in Austin, or a German one elsewhere.
Picture from Paulaner biergarten, the flash made the bier look darker.

Meh I just can't get behind the style. I'm all for the warm weather session ales but I just loathe wheat beers for some weird reason. Though I'll sumpin sumpin is fucking amazing.

Probly cuz in High school I got sick as shit from drinking multiple gallons of weissbier at a cabin in the mouintains on a backpacking trip through the Swiss/German alps. Worst. Hike. Down. Ever.

    Fuckin liter beers....worst.invention.ever.

Paulaner HefeWeissbeer doesn't seem to get enough love (here on the boards, at least), definitely up there with Weihenstephaner imo. Plus, the availability and price of can't be beat.
