Last night a friend opened a Dreadnaught he got last week at Casanovas and told me it had gone bad...

Some guy with the same name as mine said this too (scroll upward 10 posts)

I had to look up what style Dreadnaught WAS. The taste in my mouth was NOT an IPA.
I considered filling my mouth with freshly picked hops to filter it through.

Kind of like looking SO forward to that bowl of cereal in the morning, and once that first mouthful is in your
mouth you realize the milk is a few days short of cottage cheese....

This place just reeks of old beer. I like my odds better trading.

Casanovas- another beer museum in our midst. Occasionally great for the dorks who are in the know, terrible for craft beer popularity as a whole. Infected beer? Sure! Ancient beer? Of course. Terrible beer that should be sent back to distro? Our bread and butter.

Yeah I'm really pissed about all that old Golden Blend on the shelves. That and the Saison Rue... Really grinds my gears ya know?

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders - The most famous of which is "never get involved in a land war in Asia" - but only slightly less well-known is this: "Never buy Three Floyds in western Wisconsin when freshness is on the line"! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha...

    u mad bro?

They have plenty of good beer there, yeah there are some older beers, but if they get old beer from a distributor that isn't on them.

Exactly. I was disappointed and joked about my Green Flash IPA and Dreadnaught. Their distributors are unloading that. If I drive to one store, it is the Nova!!!! Toppling Goliath Bombers for $9.99 bring your own bomber. That is the biggest no-brainer in beer consumption!

Not so much, it's just a common theme that most beer stores don't send beer back to the distro. They have the ability to do so and instead choose to sell old beer. A number of breweries work to combat old beer sales but its so damned common.
