I've finally got my keezer up and running. I have successfully upgraded from picnic faucets to Perlick faucets. She should hold 6 kegs when it's all said and done. The three taps that work so far The up and coming taps, plugged with corks The weather stripping and seals on the inside miter boards The inside of the hinge The gas lines fed through the wonky back drill holes. These weren't as clean as the shank holes. The hinges for the back had to be spaced with about 6 washers to keep them flush with the rest of the back. It shifted, and I'll need 2 shims to help stabilize this before the wood gets hurt The chalkboard paint on the lid of the freezer Three happy kegs Room for 3 more and probably hop storage on the motor hump. My other fridge is going to the graveyard. Current drip tray
So, it's 80% done and I'm really happy with it so far. I realized that the ugly parts started to work themselves towards the back and right corner of the keezer (the side that will be in the corner of the room anyway). I need to beef up the springs in the back, get 3 more taps, a 4 way distributor, and a couple of drip trays so that I don't have to do as much laundry. I'm just needing another $500 between taps and more kegs.
I've seen guys stick a steel drywall mud pan under the taps with magnets for a drip tray. Comes off easy for cleaning. Nice work btw.
I'm not sure who I stole that one from. I know that I just learned a few months ago that they make this kind of paint. I figured it would save me a few hundred bucks on expensive chalkboard taps.
