1.) Good conversation at brewpubs about new beers and roadtrips to breweries.
2.) Homebrewing with my wife, experimenting with different hops and malts.
3.) Working in a brewery and having that shift beer after getting my butt kicked all day :grinning:

First and foremost, I love how beer brings people together in a positive way. Since deciding I would head down the rabbit hole that would become a mild obsession with craft beer, I have made many friends and seen friendships develop in others over a mutual love of the craft. The sense of community is outstanding and I genuinely enjoy perusing these forums and reading what a lot of you have to say.

I would say second comes the diversity of beer styles. I am confident that anyone, so long as they are open to letting themselves try and like new things, can find a beer or style that will be the gateway through which they begin their own craft beer journey. One can enjoy refreshing thirst quenchers in the summer heat AND sip on hearty warmers in the cold of winter. I am perpetually fascinated by the incredible variation that comes from the same four basic ingredients by which beer is defined.

Finally, the humble beer itself is what I love. It is the most delicious blend of everything I am fascinated by in art and in science. I like that flavors in beer are deep and complex and I cannot help but to muse over the drink at hand. Every once in a while i'll have one that's so good it just makes me grin like an idiot for the duration of it's consumption, occasionally chuckling to myself at it's sheer awesomeness.

Cheers Beer Advocates. Thanks for everything you've done to help me along this incredible journey.

    1. Taste. Especially the big malty flavors!

    2. Artisanal Variety. Not only in that there are so many styles of beer, but in each and every style, there are practically countless varieties of those beers. In other words not every Barleywine is the same, not every porter is the same, not every stout is the same, etc. Beer really shows off the talents of the artist behind it, rather than say wine, which is about 90% dependent on the terroir of the ground the vines are grown in.

    3. Beer Culture. From advocacy to conversation, from sharing and trading, there’s nothing like drinking and talking about beer with other beer advocates.
