    Hey,

Saw some Lagunitas Sucks today at a beer store called Consumer's right outside Buffalo, NY. It's usually available around December/January. Took a look at the bottled date (pretty sure it's in Julian date) and it was bottled on 020 or 1/20/13.

Can't believe they still have bottles of it. I debated buying it, but isn't it a little late considering it's a DIPA? I'm a little worried it won't be as 'in your face' with the hops compared to the stuff I bought back in January.

    What do you think?

This. Haven't tried older Sucks, but some IPAs hold up remarkably well over time. Others don't. Worth a shot.

I had one in my fridge I forgot about until about a month ago. It was a shadow of itself, but a tasty shadow. Definitely worth it if it is discounted.

I have some left of both 2011 and 2012 releases of it (although almost gone now) but I liked the '11 with a year on it as much, although differently, than the '12 fresh...

I drank my last one a couple of weeks ago in an ipa lineup and it was almost as good as fresh Double Jack!! It will definitely not taste as fresh with six months on it but it's probably still better than most ipa's out there. Try it next to other solid ipa's and report back!

From personal experience, six months is way past my threshhold for IPA freshness. As a rule of thumb, I generally skip buying an ipa if it's older than 3 months, which I still feel is a generous time frame.

EDIT: And that's only because I want the hop assault. I am sure the beers will still taste good

Half Time Beverage is still selling old bottles, you think they would at least discount it.

I had one last week also that I bought in January , it tasted great and If they had any more on the shelf I would purchase a case of it. I also not the type who believes an IPA is no good after it gets a month on it , so probally shouldn't listen to me and my unrefined palate

Just found a new stash of the 2/19 batch at a local L.A. grocery store, too. I had experienced a big drop off after 60 days when I held onto a six-pack earlier this year, so I passed on it. There's just too much fresh, tasty beer to be disappointed with old stuff. Hopefully, the year-round Sucks hits sooner than later . . .

It will lose the hop "punch in the mouth" that IPAs have out of the gate, but it is such a well designed beer that it holds up over time. It mellows, almost sweetens. but still good.

It may not be as good on the kisser as the younger batch, but I'd still hit it. There's enough moving around that have nothing to do with the hops in Sucks to make it seem like it'd be an interesting one to check out as it gets older.

I had a bottle (from January, I believe) just last night. To me, it's turned into an onion bomb, for better or worse.

It was still pretty good to me, though obviously not at the level it once was.

Just think of it this way: Whenever you try it, it's the first time (in terms of milliseconds) that anyone has ever tried it.

Wouldn't waste my time or money on it like that. Just too many other GREAT things available.
