There really wasn't that much the day after. If it would have been 3 or 4 bottle limit on Saturday, they definitely would have sold out.

maybe, I just don't understand how they can go the whole year knowing about this event only to brew enough to have that kind of bottle limit, and yet other days they can have no limit at all...

They brewed a lot of it. It's been on tap for months.

Think about it this way--they never really intended to do a big bottle release. They intended to have it on tap for locals and then have a few bottles for those that travel in for solstice. There were lots and lots of bottles earlier in the year, so there was ample time to get bottles then. Now...not so much.

That's different, considering Founders releases KBS during "KBS RELEASE DAY".

Summer Solstice =/= BB4D release day.

Personally I'm over the entire bourbon barrel aged beer craze. I've got 16 bottles of KBS in my office that will probably be there next year at this time.

Since it is one of their biggest release days of the year, they set the limit so that the most people get some that day. They don't know how many people are going to show up, so the set it a bit conservative as to make as many people happy as possible. Once the release day is over they want to move what is left over as fast as possible to clear inventory, so they remove the limits. It is the same a bar/brewpub not doing growler fills on a beer until after an event it was release for.

It is never that simple with barrel aged beers as brewing them as needed. There are a lot of factors, Barrel availability, space for barrels, brewing a high ABv beer to coincide with getting the barrels. Kuhnhenn's does have unlimited space, and they do other barrel aged beers as well. This beer is mostly brewed for the winter solstice. It is a nice perk that they have some left over for the summer solstice.

I like it, but it's not worth the craze. If I get it I get it. I need them from a business perspective, but personally won't go out of my way for them like I have previously. But I do think i'll be at WH that day

Yeahhhhh, I'm going to have to go ahead and disagree with you there.
If there intent was to have a few bottles for those travelling in for Solstice why not have them available Friday instead of leftovers on Sunday? I met a couple people who were not at all locals on Friday at the brewery.
One of them was miffed about the bottle release dates.

I think they just wanted to make it through the day Saturday with bottles and thought that adding Friday would seriously jeopardize that. Thats my guess. That, and they didn't want to burn the staff out. It was nice and relaxed Friday when I was there. Most enjoyable.
And no butt hurt after leaving with no bottles. Growler of DRIPA was just fine.

Originally I did have some butt hurt, but I rubbed some tussin on it. That, and the Pineapple PIH was sublime. Made it all betta.
