100% my experience with Abrasive also. First can was within two weeks of canning (fantastic beer) and the last was just a bit over a month. Noticeable decline, malts began to show up much more, very similar to what happens with Lagunitas Hop Stoopid or Sumpin' Sumpin'...or all their hoppy beers for that matter in a short amount of time.

Doesn't make it a "bad" beer at that stage, just more malt presence than I prefer in a hop forward beer.

    Cheers

I just wanna see this beer, so I can pick up a few bottles! I've been waiting long enough.

I had my first one last Saturday and while I thought it was good, the malt was a little dark/sweet for my liking in a fresh citrusy beer. Granted, it was the last of our IPA tasting which had Heady, Pliny, Pure Hoppiness, Ironfire 51/50, Enjoy By, and RuinTen, before it.....

It might be pasteurized. The bigger craft breweries tend to do this. Genuinely hard to describe but I get a certain quality from Sierra Nevada beers in the aroma that is a bit odd. Almost subtley smells like metal + dairy or something (weird, i know).

I was a little underwhelmed with this one, personally. Solid enough beer but far from Deschutes's best, IMO.

There was 4 of us but yeah, I was in no condition to give any opinion on flavor profiles. It just seemed malty and dark colored.

It's just always hard for me to give fair judgment on big ipa tastings. Their fun either way though.

Smells good, too sweet for my taste though.

Loved the citrus tones in the first sip, subsequent sips yielded too much malt and sweetness for me. I will not have trouble finishing it, but won't buy it again.

Respectfully disagree. I thought it was average at best.

Finish on this one is way too sweet. I was surprised at first that this is getting raves but I guess plenty of people like sweet IPA's.

I had it for the first time last week, along with Pliny the Elder. Both were amazing in different ways.

I feel the same way about it. Had it on tap at the brewpub in Bend as well as in bottles. Just not that exciting.

I meant to post the first time I read your reply. Given in a blind tasting...I would have guessed it was a SN brew though, I pretty much thought the same thing about the Hop Trip I had in 2006.
