Would you drink Hopslam, right now?

At a local bar I noticed, just a couple weeks ago, that they still had Hopslam on tap. I remember I went there a couple days after the Hopslam release and they didn't have any, so I was puzzled as to why they suddenly had some now. I asked the waiter about it and his reply was something to the effect of them originally ordering 6 kegs but there was an issue with the processing and they got their kegs a bit late. I opted to stay away from it, and went with a Double Trouble instead. But I am curious..what would you guys do in this situation? I've heard that Hopslam remains fresh for quite some time for a DIPA, and also know some people don't mind having aged IPAs/DIPAs (flame me all you want for that one). I think I at least would have given it a go if they still weren't charging the premium price for it.

I probably wouldn't seek it out, but if it were given to me or my local bar just so happened to have it on tap... Yeah, I might give it a go.

I just had one tonight and although it's not the same beer when it was released earlier this year, it was still surprisingly enjoyable...no complaints here.

Hopslam is one of those beers, like Nugget Nectar (just as an example), that I really enjoy both fresh and with a little age on it. Not the same beers with 6 months on them, but still excellent. They both have really nice malt bases. The hopslam is extra nice because the honey really comes through once the hops have faded a bit.

I prefer fresh, but they don't turn into pure garbage in 6 months like some IPAs. I've had NN up to a year old I believe and it was still tasty.

So yes, I'd definitely go for some "old" hopslam.

Aged Hopslam is something of a novelty. Is it a double IPA or a barley wine? Either way it's good.

I had one just two weeks ago and liked it quite a bit. But I don't like super hoppy brews and like how they have faded in Hopslam and the malt has taken over a bit. I still have a six pack of Sucks that's been in the fridge since I got a fresh case and pull one out a week for the same reason. If anything it's a nice little experiment as to when these things completely fall off.

Would I drink it? Yes. I'm sure it would taste good.

Would I pay Hopslam prices for it when I can get a fresh IPA for the same, or probably less? No.

hopslam is best fresh, but -
    1. i've kept a couple of 6 packs of this year's batch in the beer fridge to drink on special occasions & it still holds up.
    2. i also have a six pack from last year - cellared - and i cannot drink it. the hops are faded & what is left is just too sweet for me - BUT, my GF absolutely loves it, more than fresh hopslam.

Hopslam with a year on it turns into a beautiful beer. The honey really takes over and makes it a sweet barleywine.
