Happened to see two guys making a trade last night at a local bar we were checking out for the first time. Started chatting with the one guy, and found out he was on his way across the country to visit some family, and was making some trades along the way. I don't think we talked for more than 5min, but right before he left, he came back from his car with a New Glarus Cran-bic ale for me. I had nothing to give in return at the time, but I have a feeling this good sir will have nothing but good luck along his journey.

Huge thank you to Alexander for being an awesome guy.

I was having a beer with a buddy of mine about five years ago. It's kind of a funny story how we ended up there. I had gone to junior high with him but we really weren't that good of friends. Sure, we knew each other but didn't really hang out. His parents were real strict and didn't let him stray too far from the house in the after-school hours so I can see how it would be hard to forge any new friendships.

Anyhow, after college I was applying for a job at a painting company since I was having so much trouble finding work. Well I see this guy also filling out an application and I recognized him. Turns out he had just gotten out of school and was having the same sort of trouble I was. Well we got to talking and eventually became occasional drinking buddies since he was into craft beer as well.

So fast forward to this drinking session. This was back when there were less good bars in my town. Really there were only a couple that had any respectable selection of craft beer on tap. If you wanted something good, you were where we were at. They knew it too, so charged accordingly.

Well we played some pool and darts and had a good ol time then it came time to close out our tabs. I had enough for mine and paid it but someone had managed to lift my buddy's wallet sometime during the evening and I didn't have enough cabbage to cover both tabs. Now I knew he wasn't trying to pull one over on me because he had plenty of money normally and had a good gig.

So anyway he couldn't leave the bar but I could so I agreed to run over to his place and grab some cash he had in his dresser then come back so he could pay his bill and leave. Well I guess what happened while I was gone is he got kinda lippy with the bartender and they called the cops on him. Then when I get back to the bar there are a couple 5-0 in the parking lot. Well I wasn't quite sure of my state in relation to the legal limit so I high-tailed it outta there. I guess he resisted and they roughed him up pretty good to the point that he ended up in the hospital. Then there was some kinda problem with his medication and he ended up having a seizure that messed him up pretty good and permanent like. Not too sure cause I heard that all second hand. I'm not real good with hospitals so I didn't visit him or nothing.

Sometimes I wonder whatever happened to that guy. Anyway I guess that's life, eh?

Yeah, whoa. I was assuming that with the title "Beer Karma" and the OP's post, he wanted more like lighthearted, feelgood stories. Not stories about how a friend's life gets ruined and you never think to help them out or even get in contact with them.

Maybe the story is a farce?

I think what leedorham was trying to show here was that derivative dy = 3 r squared dr over 3... or r squared dr........ r dr r

My story doesn't involve the cops.

When I joined up on a beer website as a noob the first person I "met" wanted to send me local beers. I said "no" of course and was duly suspicious. This happened again only as I thought I was only going to get one beer I said ok. I got 3 great beers! A world class tripel, the first and only peanut butter beer I have ever had and a stout that he had aged to smooth and delicious perfection. That guy will have good luck for sure!

True and true, but usually a story about karma is when something happens due to something else, I don't see what the friend did to give himself bad karma.

This is true, but at least in my opinion, getting arrested (and beat by the police), and major medical complications including a seziure that messes you up permanently seems like karma overkill for just mouthing off to a bartender.

But perhaps the Beer gods are harsher gods than I believed.

I can tell you what happened to that guy. He sued the police and got a several million dollar settlement. Then he bought that goddamn bar and fired the bartender. He recovered to about 80 - 85% of his former self, married a model and he's living happily ever after.

ubufan2112 was kind of enough to send me 6 cans of Heady Topper (and two cans of Ghandi Bot!) in exchange for a shipping label, so I turned around and shared 2 of the Headys out with friends at a tasting on Saturday then gave two more away. Good times!
