Avery just keep cranking out barrel-aged beers like mad!

Have these releases always been so expensive? DFH 120 is the only beer I had ever paid more than $10 for a 12oz bottle before I moved here. Granted, the Momi and Ross's were good beers, but $10-12 for a 12oz bottle is a little absurd to me.

$1 an ounce isn't a bad price. Especially for the quality and abv of this one. Although I prefer Mephistopheles, ill grab a couple for the cellar.

As much as I hate the price, if it were to ever make it to the East Coast, I'd pony up. We tend to forget that this is higher ABV and approaches wine-pricing territory. No one would think twice paying $12 for a decent half-bottle of wine (375 ml). Most good dessert wines start at $15 for half-bottle. This is arguably higher quality for a beer than a comparably price bottle of wine and not something you'll be sipping on your porch every day. IMO Avery is much better with high-ABV offerings than with the regular selection so I'd expect this one to be special.

FYI it came to the east coast last year (at least to Boston) and was selling at $15 a pop (as was Rumpkin). But I agree with your appraisal - although priced very highly, it's worth it when you consider the quality you're getting (and assuming you're not buying it every day). Also the abv is above 15% so you're essentially getting three drinks in a 12oz bottle; one could easily spend $15 on three buds at a bar.

Now that you mention it, I gave a $15 Avery bottle as a birthday present. May very well have been the same beer--don't know since I haven't had any, but knew enough about Avery and the friend's taste to grab that one

I got last year's bottle in a trade. I would gladly drop $15 for a bottle. It was incredible.

I'm sure we'll see it in Philly for a 100% price increase (not exaggerating).

There is still some of batch 1 on the shelves at at least one bottle shop. $17/bottle, so the markup is $5 over what they are charging for the fresh batch at the brewery. Not too terrible.

I loved Batch 1 so much. Will seek and buy this when it hits shelves in SD.

I will pay this all day long. I was actually doing the quick math in my head for a case.
