I usually never have more than 2 of the same beer in a day, whether it's taken me a herculean effort to get it or it's easily available and whether I'm home or out. I like to start off a session with something new that I've never had but if I don't have anything availabe that's new, I'll start with a favorite and work down the preference list from there.

If its a special beer in the sense that it is significantly limited to me I usually spread it out as much as I can. I generally have pretty good control, (got 10 KBS this year and still have 7!), but its not easy at times. Makes the beer that much more enjoyable when I do drink it though. As far as getting sad when I run out of limited beer, well I experience significant dyphoria every year when I finish my last Hopslam. And this year I was pretty sad when I ran out of Zhukov (but not upset enough to break into the verticals I have running!).

When the mood strikes, I drink it. I don't, nor have I ever, cellared a beer.

Accept for that random Narragansett at 3:00 AM that occasionally happens, I have never regretted drinking a beer.

I would have spread it out over the weekend, supplementing with other beers.

Too much of anything in one sitting causes diminishing returns.

I agree, when the mood strikes drink em. With Heady, if I save them I end up giving them to other people to try to get them into good beer.

    It s conundrum, isn't it?
I think that's why some of us have cellars, in order to save/spread out the drinking of fine beers...particularly those that cellar well. In my case, my cellar is below my mancave, and a bunch of stuff has to be moved in order to get to it. It works as a nice disincentive to just grabbing a KBS/BCBS/Bolt Cutter/Backwoods Bastard ( you get the idea) whenever I get the hankerin'. Having just gotten into some of these scrumptious beers this year, I'm trying to horde a bit, till fall and the return of stout season, before really drinking many of them, so that the new batches will be back and available.
I guess to each their own in how they choose to partake of what they have. In any case, I agree with the general sentiment of not regretting drinking them, the breweries will make more.

I only have one Parabola and I'm struggling immensely when to open it. It has to be the right time right?

If it's something special I space it out, even though it can be very hard. If it's shelf beer I drink it like it's going out of style

I guess guilt was the wrong word and more of what Roguer said with the "Oh, I'm out" moment...I'm more curious of the actual beer you drank when you had that moment.

If it's a seasonal, one off or something pricey, then I space it out&try to savor it. if it's something easily attainable at a store, I drink it knowing that I can always go back and get more.

Why would you not drink All Day IPA all day?

I plowed through some Chocolate Bock this past winter. Next time I can get some I am going to stock up. I usually drink as I go. Going to start holding onto the seasonal / hard to get stuff.

You're doing it right then. That beer was meant to enjoy lots of.

As for heady, I just got 12 in the mail yesterday and I couldn't help myself, so I drank two already, but I'm trying to stretch it out for a couple weeks.

I wouldn't feel guilty in that situation. It's meant to be enjoyed.

Granted, I usually make something like that last a couple of weeks. I've picked up 4/6 packs of things I don't see often, or were expensive, and I usually only drink 1-2 on any given day. I just like to stretch them out, as I probably won't have that particular beer again soon. That doesn't mean I'd feel bad if I had them all in one night.

Founders Harvest Ale last fall. grabbed a 4pk from work and drank them all while watching the Tigers game that night. Didn't even realize it was a harder-to-get beer, I just thought it was delicious. By the time I went into work next, they were all gone :slight_frown:.
