I'm always tempted to head up on days off, but I don't think it's in the cards for me today. Enjoy yourself.

Looks like Amazeballs has been gone since I went and Higher Standard is gone also. Any idea when these are coming back?

Visited for the first time this past weekend and was very impressed. I'd had Amazeballs (not on currently) and Simple Sour (on) before but my wife and I sampled everything they had and liked it all. Took home a growler of their lower alcohol IPA (Lower Standard), which we pounded down very easily. Should have gotten another growler for Sunday!

Seriously, who is brewing better beer in NY state now? I'd be hard pressed to think of a brewery with a wider variety and higher quality. I like Captain Lawrence but Peekskill had more beers that I thought were interesting and top tier. Shotgun Willy and Midnight Toker are terrific.

No one. Things couldn't be better for those of us who live near Peekskill Brewery and Rushing Duck.

I've had a couple of Rushing Duck's beers but they're kinda hard to find on a regular basis. Any tips?

They have a website I think, and FB too, best thing is visit the brewery Fri Pm and Sat. Midday for samples, and take home growlers. They have a bit of keg distro at this point and I see them for fills pretty regularly, but a trip to the brewery shouldn't be missed. Easy get to from WChester. Might try The Hop in Beacon.

Thanx Cave. Or is it Dave? I'm in Mahopac so it's a short hop to Chester.

Just noticed that Higher Standard isn't on their growler list on beermenus (yet its on the draft list). Have they always restricted growler fills of that beer or is that just an oversight/typo?

Hopefully that is just a mistake. I have only been to PB once, but about a month ago I got a growler fill.

Made a list minute decision to hit the brewery today with my wife. Great trip. Sat at 2nd floor bar, had two flights with Amazeballs (awesome smell), Eastern Standard (very good, probably my least favorite), Midnight Toker ( this was excellent), Higher Standard (really love this one), Lower Standard(really good for low ABV) and Shotgun Willie ( love the Nelson hops). All were very good to excellent.

Also ate there, pierogis were great, cornbread skillet was excellent and my wifes grilled cheese sandwich was excellent also.

Filled up some great growlers also, looking forward to them July 4th and next weekend.

Took a walk down to water, great views there.

This place is a gem, what a great lineup of beer all in one place. I highly recommend it.

Gotta agree with you. While many folks may or may not agree with me, I believe that Peekskill is the best spot in NY right now. Off the charts creativity with the brews, great food, and a fantastic setting. Chief continues to prove why he is one of the best brewers in America. Anyone who is within an hour or so of Peekskill... I am ridiculously happy for you (but jealous too!).

Anybody know if they allow kids in the pub?

Yup, I've been there several times and seen kids running around. Unless they changed their rules, you're good.

Most likely. There were three babies, including mine, upstairs when we stopped in two weeks ago. It's quite a loud place anyway so the noise from children won't matter.

My wife and I really enjoyed our visit. The beers were really good including the cask offering of Common Ground which had a fantastic coffee flavor. Got a growler of their Simple Sour which was solid. The food, while expensive, was really tasty too and the atmosphere was awesome. Oh, and our server was super nice and really accommodating to us while we were dealing with our infant. She even responded to me on twitter the next day which was funny.

I have been there 3 times with my 2 year old and twice with my 3 month old added to the mix. Plenty of other kids around. Just on the edge of enough high chairs. Plenty of older kids around, too.

I have a fantastic picture of my 2 year old son resting on the bar downstairs while we were waiting for our growlers to be filled on Father's Day evening.

The place is fantastic. The beer is top notch and the food is not too far behind.

Despite my positive kids experience, be aware there is no kids menu so you will pay a real price for kids who are older to eat there. The prices are a tad high for adults so it is not economical for kids.

I'm passing by Peekskill in a few weeks, I was there at the soft opening. I read earlier in the thread that they charged a full price for a 32oz growler fill - is that an anomaly or standard practice? I suppose they do fill other's growlers, correct? Can they fill 32oz and 64oz swingtops?

I ask because I won't be able to hang out at their very cool bar for long this time around.
