What beer are you drinking now? #253

    Starting this lazy Sunday off with Squid Ink, a stout with espresso, chocolate, figs, dates and juniper berries.

    The Ship Inn Brewery is located in Northumberland, UK, at a truly picturesque location. I picked this up Friday when the group and I stopped for a few pints after touring the close by Simpson's Malting plant. Here are a few pictures.

    The brewery is owned and operated by one man, who built the entire operation for around £1000 in a space smaller than most garages. He has one brewkettle, one mash tun, three primary and three secondary. All 2.5 BBL. He achieves incredible efficiency with a low hop bill by using his brewkettle almost as a pressure cooker.

    He also built this ingenious cask washing station. I am inspired.

    Good morning BA! Sabroso means "flavorsome." Wine with a variety of taste sensations and that fits this beer. I confess I chill my glass and have never been sorry until today. This beer poured the prettiest of any I have ever seen, a deep pastel orange with a yellow halo around the edges and rooted in the bottom of the glass. It was opaque and yet filled with light.

    There is nothing, I repeat NOTHING like a cold Torpedo straight from the bottle on a fine Sunday morning. Ahh, the sweet sound of the youngest son cuttin' the yard. The perfect lawnmower beer!

    First time trying this. I know this is an IPA glass but got it yesterday and wanted to use it. I'm bottling a DIPA so does that count?

    I know it's in bad form to post on this what you had last night but it was so epic I have to. I went to Monks Cafe in Philly where I had a

    on tap, not too bad, wasn't what I expected but definately enjoyed it. Then I had a
    [​IMG] Nefarious on tap. Bloody ridonkulous beer, it was like drinking orange juice..

    As I was sitting there with my wonderfully patient wife a guy walks up and orders a [​IMG] I ask him how good it is and he says he likes it better than pliny. Sign me up! Such a damn good beer, I'll be looking for this when ever I can. Thank you kind stranger!

    Anyway last night was ridiculous, but onto what I'm drinking NOW.

    Arbor Ales Triple Hop # 7 Cascade, Columbus and Centennial

    Much less than the sum of its parts, for all those lovely hops it tastes like an everyday session ale.

    Hopefully Founders Dirty Bastard will hit the spot later on.
