It is now legal to homebrew your own beer in all 50 states. Good work by the local proponents and the American Homebrewers Association.
Under 14% eh.... How on earth do they plan to control that? Go around taking samples of homebrew under the guise of wanting to try it, but taking it back to a lab? Pfft. Anyways.. surprised it took this long for all 50 states to get on board.
The only thing that surprises me about politics and politicians is that there isn't an actual "biggest douche in the universe" award. Between the overblown rhetoric of the wanna-be prohibition stamp out fun where ever you find it types, and the lobbyists from the big brewers, I'm actually a little surprised. However, the prez* brewing in the white house? Perhaps Obama's presidency will leave a lasting legacy after all. *well, his chefs.
If I lived in Mississippi I would make dam sure the first batch I brewed was 16% ABV just to be a PIA! However this is a silly and totally unenforceable ABV cap. Anyways welcome Mississippi to the wonderful world of homebrew!
I think for most of us, our skill level makes 16% something of a "cap" anyway, because it would be beyond our skill level to make it taste good. (I don't know what the actual cap is, but 16% is beyond what I wish to attempt at my current skill level)
