Heading down to Florida in a month and was looking to check out the FB lounge when I saw that they opened this place recently. Some of the information says they don't serve food (but have food carts outside that sell food) and that they are scaling back the amount of their own selections to guest taps. What's the place like?
Who said they are scaling back? Last I talked to the Buddha guys they are tapping 6 new beers in the next few weeks. If you are down here I would visit both. Why you may ask? I say why not. Cheers.
They have at least one food truck parked outside all hours that they are open. If it's a busier night, like on a weekend or during a sports event, they have more than one truck. Also, they have a stack of menus at the bar and a bunch of local restaurants deliver there. They welcome this and don't mind if you want to bring in your own food either. You should definitely go. I don't think they are scaling back their offerings in favor of guest taps at all, although they do have some guest taps of local Florida breweries like Due South, Cigar City, Tequesta, etc.
Right now Funky Buddha is doing growlers of Raspberry Floridian (32 oz only) and Hop Gun (32 oz and 128 oz). I think they are still doing the regular Floridan also.
Depends on what you like, but you could have them get you other offerings by Cigar City such as Maduro, FL Cracker, Helles, etc. If you get lucky you might be able to get Cubano Espresso or Guava Grove. Saint Somewhere Brewery makes some good saisons as well. Depending on where they will be in Florida, you could ask them to stop by a brewery and bring you back a growler. Some of the best breweries in Florida IMO don't bottle or distribute yet.
On that note, other than Funky Buddha and CCB what are the other breweries I should look for? I'll be hitting both coasts over the course of the week. I'm aware of St. Somewhere and you mentioned Tequesta and Due South.
On the West Coast of FL: 7venth Sun Brewing in Dunedin and Cycle Brewing (Peg's) in Gulfport. in South FL: Miami Brewing Company, The Native Brewing Co, and Holy Mackerel are some others
Heading there in the next hour to check out the brewery tour, gonna bring home a couple growlers of course! I am definitely excited the wife not so much lol, but she is being a trooper and coming with!
Was there this weekend. FYI hint hint... GO there tomorrow, they are doing something similar to what CCB does on Tuesdays. Got this right from the mouth of the owners.
Good tip, BigGene. For those that haven't heard, they are putting one keg of Pineapple Hop Gun in the growler station starting at 12 pm today. I hope this will also be on regular tap, since I might not make it there today but plan to visit this weekend.
