I plan on finding out how many Heady Toppers it takes to black out...

My cooler on the 4th will have 16oz Surly cans of Overrated and Furious along with a few Miller High Life cans for just before I pass out. Don't want to waste the good stuff during this critical stage. Cheers!

Mini-fridge's supply is waning, so it will be Schlafly APA, Gumballhead, Alpha King, Apocalypse Cow, Lagunitas IPA, Dogfish 120, and Devil Dancer.

I'm just drinking what I have around the house. In other words, Troegs Nugget Nectar, Victory Swing, Victory Summer Love, and Sixpoint The Crisp.

Right now it's looking like some Ommegang Hennepin & Jack's Abby Leisure Time Lager. However the next day will be the real beer day, HF & Lawson's. Unfortunately no HT because the cannery is out. Hopefully the Pro Pig will have some on Friday.

For me it's less than a "Quantity vs. Quality" issue, and more of a taste preference -- but there's an escalation:

First I'll enjoy my favorite, standard horse piss lager (<--- see avatar), next a regional brew (if my local packie has August Schell Hefe, I'm golden), and finally a darker or heavier one to cap it all off -- maybe Guinness FES. :sunglasses:

I'm having a party (actually on the 6th), so I bought some shittier stuff to appease the masses... Boxer Ice, Boston Lager, Yuengling, Grolsch, as well as an Oberon mini keg. I'm sure some other people will bring Miller Lite, etc. But hidden away for myself (and maybe a few friends) I have Arctic Panzer Wolf, Gregorius, and Hopslam. A buddy is bringing some Heady Topper.

Do you know why food/wine parings almost never match strong-tasting food with strong-flavored wine? It's so that they don't compete for your attention and don't overshadow each other. They are meant to complement and to enhance. So here's my question -- if you are trying to enjoy the Enjoy By or Ruin10 and relish the long finish, why would you want to wash it off with a Heady Topper (or vice versa)? To each his own, I suppose, but this is the one thing that's been bothering me about the posts on this thread (aside from people who claim they'll go sailing/driving drunk as a skunk). It's like a bunch of teenagers yelling "mine is bigger than yours".

Haha. I am not going drink all them myself or even in one sitting. I am probably have a Enjoy By while working the grill during the day and save the Heady for fireworks later that night. Thats just what I have in the fridge for tomorrow foe me and the few others that will probably come by. Its my son 3rd Birthday tomorrow, so I can't just be bent all day. There will be plenty of time for my palate to clear between brews. The only one that is a semi-palate wrecker is Ruinten and might lets someone else drink that as I have had 3 of them already, the rest are pretty compareable IMO. So Elevated can be drank after a Heady IMO.

    Never Drink and Drive.

    Love it!

Last summer I was having Heady for one of the first times and didnt realize how strong they were. I had 6 of them in a 2.5 hour span and fell asleep on the floor during my fantasy football draft.

I'm planning on seeing the fireworks near the Charles River but I haven't decided whether I'm going to try and get a spot in front of the stage. Right now my lineup is Sierra Nevada Hoptimum, Mayflower Single Hop, and a Lagunitas Undercover Ale if I'm still walking.

...because beer in a can can't be strong:grimacing:
(just posted a review of mediocre Baltika 9 8% 500 mL can)
