Apparently my other thread was deleted in the "Beer Talk" forum without reason or notice. I thought that would be the most appropriate forum based on the description:

So even though this question has little to do with aging or cellaring, I'll try my luck here.

I'm curious to hear from anyone who has had both the Bourbon Vanilla DL and BCBVS which they think is better btwn the two. I realize opinions may vary based upon when you tried each of them so please include that in your response as well. Thanks!

Hmm, I think I'd prefer BVDL, but that's mainly because last time I had BCBVS it was oddly tart and not that great (I liked Port better than BV DL). I don't honestly think either do a great job showcasing the vanilla, but everyone else thinks I'm crazy so maybe I'm just crazy.

I've had both a few times. It depends on if you really want vanilla. BVDL will be your vanilla marshmallow bomb where as BCBVS has a more integrated barrel presence and subsided vanilla. I'm a vanilla ***** so I prefer the BVDL, but it's splitting hairs as they're both delicious in their own way.

    This man speaks the truth.

We're having a sort of Voltron next weekend. Will report back on this year's BVDL as the wee sip I had at DLD was not overly impressive (compared to 2012.).

As Treebs stated the BVDL is a marshmallow bomb (Truly spectacular). No beer has ever delivered that flavor profile, IMO. BCVS is amazing and more balanced. The bottles I've had, from 2010-present (most recent was in late April) have all been phenomenal. I've never tasted the tartness that others claim. The vanilla has become a bit more integrated and subtle but I think that is a good thing. It's definitely not diminished or non existent...

I've only had the BVDL once on tap at DLD in 2010 and it definitely left a long lasting impression on me. I love that beer but it's "asking" price is ridiculous. In fact the only reason I would consider ever going to dark lord day again is to get another taste and potentially a bottle

I've had BCVS countless times and still savor my remaining bottles, I think it's the best thing since penicillin.
