Temptation b4

No, it's a botched attempt by us west coast homers to create an artificial hype around our shelf turds, similar to Beat batch 3. Absolutely no difference, just a conspiracy.

With this epic failure, the only way to punish us and make us learn our lesson is by forcing us to consume these fraudulent shelf whales ourselves.

 

I don't know if it's that much different than other batches, but sure tastes better than any others right now. Not sure if it's a function of the current age, the 750 bottles, or something else that makes it unique. It's possible batch 5 will catch up, but for now, it's easily the best Temptation I've had.

Still can't believe I missed out on the 3L bottles at Toronado...

 

A BA friend told me that RR now force injects their barrels to ensure inoculation. I think that these vintage batches were naturally inoculated with bacteria. No idea on the validity.

 

I was under the impression that everything tastes better with flip flops on?

It is the only batch that was not a 375.

 

The visual image I got when I read the first sentence of that was priceless and disturbing.

 

I'm happy to hit you on multiple levels! I guess the process goes something like this. Remove any rings or watches, you don't want the barrel to engulf them. Next grab a big handful of some sloppy shit off the floor. Squeeze in through a dug out hole approximately elbow deep right into the center of the barrel. Release the slop. Caution, pull your arm out slowly. If you put it out to quickly, well lets just say I warned you .

 

People saw the one and only SpdKilz wanted more Temptation B4 and the value skyrocketed. Case closed.

But to answer your question, it was the only batch in 750's, they are now officially over 4 years old in the bottle (all batch 4's were bottled end of may/beginning of June, 2009), and in my opinion, they are at their prime in flavor (then again I prefer Temptation with a couple years on it).

That said, I have noticed a massive upsurge in difficulty obtaining this beer from a year ago.

 

It's really tasting good right now. I missed out on getting a CC or Rorie's Ale bottle at Tornado 25th, but Temptation b4 was my happy consolation prize.

does anyone have any noteworthy observations between 004x02 and 004x04? the RR logs state that 02 used Rockpile and Brett Brux for conditioning yeast while 04 used Rockpile and Brettanomyces. i have one bottle of each and was curious if people noticed any distinction. i really want to open one of em soon as i hear it's basically perfect now and Temptation is one of my favorite beers.

Edit: I also have a Supplication batch 04x4 i got as an extra, very curious on how that's doing if anyone has opened one recently.

 

I've only ever had 04x3, so I don't know that I can help. My guess is that Brett Brux v. Brettanomyces means Belgian strain v. Sonoma house strain.
