Just wondering what everyone's thought is on this. I had a trade with a guy who was sending me a Huns that broke in transit. I sent him a Darkness '11 and 3x KBS. Should he send something? Am I out of luck? At first he said he would send another but now he says neither Fed Ex or UPS will allow him to ship, and it's been over a month. Looks like he hasn't been on here since 4/6 and won't respond to my BMs... Thoughts?

He should send you another bottle. I've had this happen twice (once when I shipped and once when I rec'd). Both times original shipper sent a replacement bottle (same one that broke). Seems to be the norm from what I've seen. Good luck.

If it was an extra, he wouldnt be obligated to replace it. If it was a bottle that was a main part of the trade, he should replace.

He said the Huns was the only bottle in the box. Guess I'll just hope he returns my messages at some point

IMO he should send you a replacement or send you back your beers. Recently had this happen. Said trader didnt have the same bottle that broke, but made it up with a 2010 and 2011 Abyss as a replacement for that one bottle. I was very, very pleased with his generosity.

It is always the shippers responsibility to get you the box contents agreed upon. If it breaks along the way they need to replace it.

Also, it would seem unlikely that neither Fedex nor UPS would let him ship through them. I smell a bit of BS on that remark

A agree that it is BS about not being allowed to ship. Even people who have had their boxes opened and or have had bottles break during shipment have turned around and sent another box using the same shipping company.

Yeah, I told him anyone can just walk in and ship with a phony name anyways lol. You don't need an account to ship...

Dude owes you a bottle, no questions asked, and that shipping line is complete BS. Even if it is somehow true, he can always waltz into a UPS store and just ship it with a work or a friend's return address.

Did you check references on this guy? Did you get his email and/or phone #?

I had traded with him the previous week. I rarely check references like I should, but have never had problems and I've done 75+ trades on here. I emailed and texted him that I'll put him on the bad trader list if he doesn't respond to me by the end of the day, not that it will affect him much since he no longer visits this site.

The official "public shaming" thread often gets people to come through. Just because he's on a break doesn't mean he won't ever want to come back.

so how long before a "Bad Trader Alert!" thread?

it's not a public shaming until their BA name/handle is on full blast.
