i was wondering if anyone could tell me the values/equivalent of these ccb beers any of the ba hunahs ba roosevelt zhukov variants church on a hill and cognac version kalevipoeg at the gates of hell moat water nielsbohrium leon ba sweet stout capricho oscuro ba big sound ba imperial milk porter bohr dirac ba sea bass thanks
BA hunas are whales with the exception of the new cali brandy huna which trades highly but not unreasonably so. zhukov variants are pretty rare i think. leon, cognac church, and imperial sweet stout are all similar bottle counts and trade fairly highly, with imperial sweet stout being the easiest of them to get (really good too). gates of hell doesn't seem to be too hard to get, probably close to imp sweet stout, and roosevelt seems to be in line with leon/cognac church. moat water saw some distribution but is still sort of limited. ba big sound seemed to have a lot of bottles and scotch ales don't trade very highly so that shouldn't be hard to get. the rest, idk : )
I think there's release fatigue on these bottles, just like there has been on the recent HF stuff. I've been underwhehlmed with the past few releases. Cali Brandy Hunah, Imperial Sweet Stout, Moat Water, and Leon have been way upticked by homer reviews/those with a vested trading interest. 4.0 - 4.25 beers at best. Unbalanced/diabeetus/acetone style messes. Honestly, the last good bottles were Cognac Chuch, Neilsbohrium, and Double Barrel Zhukov. By all accounts the Apple Brandy Hunah and Zhukov growlers were awesome, but the only one I traded for busted in transit.
To be honest, from what I've seen and heard, a lot of the bottles are fairly easy to obtain around release time. most FL traders were so starved for good beer and the wealth of releases Mid-westerners and West Coasters are privy to that they'll trade for whatever they can get their hands on. With the exception of the 2011 releases (Milk porter, Mikkeller collab stouts), 2012 releases (Moat Water, BA Big Sound), and the hype machines (Leon, Cognac Church, AB Huna), the releases should be pretty easy to get. Simple comparable brewery-only releases/limiteds will get it done, since FL is full of eager new traders. Just keep abreast of what's being released and strike while the iron's hot.
You left off Three Floyds from that mix, interestingly. Also, there are no midwest homer reviews, that's for sure. 4.0 - 4.25 beers are messes? Good stuff. (P.S. I only have 1 special release from any of CCB, HF, or FFF, and it's not for trade.)
after tasting leon at a bottle share, there is no way i would give up what is needed to trade for it. great beer but not nearly as good as the king henry it has traded even with.
Thank you Adam for typing all this so I didn't have to on my android. I guess the poster didn't want to diminish the value on his ba fff beer that nobody wants since hes holding out for the massive terrible mess, his words not mine, that is ba Hunahpu.
Having had both Cognac Church and Leon, Church is the bottle to shoot for. I thought Leon was good, but I was willing to trade my second bottle away after tasting my first. Church on the other hand is one of the best beers I have ever had. My second bottle will remain in my possession until it is cracked upon for a very special occasion yet to be determined.
I'd say forget all of those releases, get yourself a good, regular CCB/FL trade buddy and you will end up with all future CCB big bottle releases/regulars and not have to sell your soul to get it. I do this exact thing with a good guy out of MN and it works out great. He gets all the CCB action he can handle and he pays me back with random boxes of goodies from up his way.
Everything's been said already, but I'd like to reiterate that BA Church is a significantly better beer than most of the recent CCB stuff, especially Leon and AB Huna. Stupid apple brandy barrels, they don't help beers at all. And also that despite the relative abundance of Cali Brandy Hunahpu, it was a complete monster to obtain for most people. Don't be surprised when an FL trader clutches to it with inordinate zeal.
