Good morning admirals of ales and lieutenants of lagers! I hope you all had a fantastic Fourth of July! Weather here in Central OH is muggy, wet, and rainy. I think I saw the sun for about 5 minutes yesterday but this summer has been very Seattle-esque.

Studying for my last MBA class and heading to my niece's one year birthday party so I'm not sure there will be much in the way of new beer for me today but I'm sure you all can carry the flag in my absence! Get out there and try something that's new to you, make some notes, and tell us about it! I keep seeing lots of great new stuff in cans including Jackie O's...a local favorite and a cult classic on this website. I wasn't a huge fan of their Firefly Amber but I'm hoping this is a preview of bigger and better things from them available locally.

Please remember to share your thoughts after you've reviewed said new beer. A good description is essential but linked reviews are appreciated. Pics are an added bonus if you are photographically inclined.

I'll be checking back later today so thanks for keeping NBS focused, fresh, informative, and fun.

    Good day and good drinkin'!

    Peace, love, and malty-ness,

    Matt

    ***New American Blonde Ale Sunday!!!

G'day Matt, and to the rest of the NBS crew!

Loose Leaf from Odell is my new beer for today and here is my review:

I really wanted to LOVE this beer but things didn't work out that way.The body being very light, I expected. I also expected more flavour than what I got. I KNOW Odell can do better...

Hi Matt and everyone on New Beer Sunday. =) I have had a the longest week ever with rain and nothing but. I have been trying to gather up all the beer I can get my hands on and threads here have been inspirational. They have led me to a favorite beer in a particular style in the berliner wiess with 1809. I have looked for beer in cans and came up with two this week. Dales pale ale, fantastic. I love it. Oskar blues is my new favorite "brand" of beer. This stuff was like candy to me. I can't stop with it and I bought it twice which is so unusual. Then I have pikeland pils which I hope to get to today, also in cans.

On to NBS business. Sunday is becoming stout day at my house. I'm a morning person & I am really starting to like them a whole lot. I think I can fill a month of Sundays with them and today it was Evil Twin's Even More Jesus. Lingering over a stout in the morning could even replace cartoons once you've reached the age. Happy Sunday BA's.

Greetings fellow NBSers! Friday was July 5th, which is the start of Summer here in the Fourth Corner. I'm dog and house sitting for a few days, and a bit later I'm heading over to the Bellingham Bells game, to cheer for a victory over the Cowlitz Black Bears. Go Bells! I'm starting with a nice little Pils from one of Seattle's myriad breweries: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/17005/95876/?ba=beertunes

NEW AMERICAN PALE WHEAT ALE SUNDAY

Greetings from the sauna that is Lancaster county. We had a great week, the family and I. My wife's maternity leave ended and she returned to work part time. That means my stay at home daddying has begun! My sister and her husband were in town for the holiday and it was wonderful to see them again. I spent a sweaty NBS morning helping them load a moving van, so I thought a refreshing wheat beer was in order.

Greetings my NBS friends. Another warm and humid (dew point at 70) day in Southern WI. I was out late last night, but my kids decided to get up early. I have been in a groggy state this morning and have gotten few things done around the house. Decided to bring out the monster of a beer to super charge me.
Check this out: A Rishi Tea infused Wit. My review.

Hope everyone has a fantastic Sunday!

One of the benefits of house sitting is access to cable, and it's better when the Mariners are actually leading a game! Sadly my second entry for NBS is an example of not every idea being a good one:http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/147/87091/?ba=beertunes. Just because you CAN do something, doesn't mean you should actually do it.

And, I just see where they got Saison out of that. There was nothing refreshing about it, just a roast and alcohol mess.

New American Wild Ale Sunday (week 437)

Greetings, NBS'ers, from the steam bath on the ridge in Mid Hud Val NY. My Chinook hops seem to love the weather, not so much me, but a great beer sure helps. This one is near to great, but just not there.

You will notice, if you care to, that I have it listed as a wild, but it is placed on BA as a saison. And it says Farmhouse Ale on the label too, but friends this is a fucking wild ale and that is the end of it. Very tasty, but not earth shattering, nor worth the cost.

Wish I had some of y'all here now to help me decide how to tweak this Pale Ale we hope to be brewing commercially next year if we can get the recipe right. Hits me as needing something like rye malt, or...? Hope you also have a Great American Beer in your glass. Cheers!

In addition to a hit of Rye, how about a dose of Pilsener malt to lighten it up a bit for summer, and some Sauvin hops?

    New APA Sunday

    Greetings NBSer's,

Warm here in SCMN, but with a big ol' cap on the upper atmosphere keeping the humidity reasonably low (that's good) and the rain away (maybe not as good, but it's nothing like a shortage of water here this past month). So out of the direct sun it's kinda' nice, like on my deck after about 4pm when I can find some shade.

For the next week or two I'm gonna' do some reviews for recent US Beer Cup winners. Today's was 1st place in the APA category. Doesn't rate all that highly here on BA, but then again that doesn't mean it wasn't the best one entered in this contest. Nonetheless, it oughta' be at least decent, don't cha' think?

Overall a good everyday kind of beer that is working fine on a warm day. Quite a nice aroma.

    Best to all this week.

Sauvin, huh, actually have a half pound in the freezer. Amazing bit of long distance perception, am really starting to love that hop in other beers, and pilsener too? Hmmm. I am gonna do this, thanks. Too bad sharing one with you is such a difficult idea to do.

    NEW AMERICAN PALE WHEAT SUNDAY!

Greetings to the NBS group from my corner of the world. Sunny and 93 pleasant degrees today at the Jersey Shore.
More pleasant while sitting around the pool, relaxing and cooling off as needed.
A minor shoulder injury has forced me to ease off on activities. The golf clubs, workout gear, etc. all sit idle. And I can't catch practice for my flame-throwing softball pitching daughter this week...there's always a bright side.
Nothing wrong with my beer drinking abilities as I discovered here:http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/3818/17497/?ba=NiceTaps.
I picked this up last night and used it in a Belgian Style Mussels recipe, now I get to enjoy it today.

    Some of today's soundtrack...

    All the best everyone, Cheers!
