Reading and following the advice given in this blog will avoid almost every problem you see posted here

    http://alewatcher.blogspot.com/2010/11/new-trader-tips.html

This is a great resource. It won't work, however, if you don't read it, don't read all of it, don't take it to heart, and don't make it a part of your regular trading routine. Trading is so much fun when it is done properly, so rewarding, and so delicious. OTOH, if you are so unprepared to trade that you do not even know what protocol is for the simplest things, such as new traders send first, or how to box beer so it doesn't break, it will be a huge hassle and disappointment.

Here is that link again. It won't work if you don't click it, nor if you don't read it, nor if you don't follow all the advice.

And for those who really need it to have a catchy title to click it first

This link not being stickied to the top of the forum is seriously putting a hurting on the trading community. For every new trader who creates a thread that can be answered with "read Alewatcher's blog", there are another 100 traders who didn't even bother to post and keep on doing things wrong.

I agree too, although if you spend enough time on BA (as you should if you are getting into trading) you are bound to see the link multiple times.

I agree. It boggles the mind thinking how many times folks who come to this forum with problems must have passed over that link without going there and learning how to avoid problems.

I am willing to bet that there are folks now who open this thread, see the link, realize they should probably go there and learn how to do this right, yet don't.

I disagree. That would imply the only reason to come to BeerAdvocate is trading, and that is just plain wrong.

Now, if you were to PM that link to everyone who joins the trading group, I'm with you 100%.

Reading that will help, being generous and willing to learn will also work.

I had a buddy sign up about a month ago and the Bros sent him an email stating he had to wait 5 months and atleast 100 posts before posting in the trading forums. Its not that hard to sticky the Alwatchers Blog along with the email.

Very good read for new traders!

Personally, with the exception of the abbreviations, I feel like most of that info should be common sense. Some people are idiots though...

This link was provided to me my cavedave months ago when I inquired about trading. I've had 6 trades, with one on its way and so far so good!

    Thanks cavedave, a true BA!

Yes, abstinence is one option. Safe trading is another.

Don't worry, the 2012's and 2013's are working on a collaborative effort titled "How to Offer Turds for Whales in Six Easy Steps". Expect the E-Book out later this year.
