Damn you. Nothing like smelling and tasting the beer at the same time through me nostrils.

Just lied... I did google it, and that's an interesting bit of info for those who do say they're shipping olive oil. I'm pretty sure a lot of guys on this site actually say that's what their shipping.

    I never specify anymore.

Local police have nothing to do with interstate commerce. waaay out of their jurisdiction. I'm sure they don't have a local law about it.

Shipping beer without proper license is illegal whether you use USPS, UPS, or FEDEX. It is not more illegal to ship USPS than the others. USPS does not make any laws, Congress does. Just because USPS is government run doesn't mean that they work under different interstate commerce laws. The perception on BA seems to be that USPS has a red line to ATF or the local police department just because they are government run. I don't believe this to be true. Breaking a USPS T&C is not necessarily breaking the law. T&Cs between shipping companies may be different but they all must conform to the same interstate commerce laws.

Nope, I work in shipping, I can open any box I want, I don't, but we have the right to make sure people aren't sending drugs, body parts, bombs etc

If you were a UPS worker having a shit day and the cherry on top is having to clean up beer that leaked everywhere from a poorly packed box, you might call the cops.

FTFY. You yourself said you should've packed better. If your box can't even make it out of the store, that is an awful packing job.

I read the thread twice just to be sure -- who is Tom and what role did he play in this? It's definitely a sneaky story.

To my packing defense...it was a thick ass growler that broke. I have dropped it off a counter before and it didn't get a scratch. I think the ole bag took a hammer to it.

I doubt she has the "right" to call the cops. Waste of the clerks/officers time.

    Do you even ship growlers?

Everyone has the "right" to call the cops. However, she obviously does not have the right to command cops to show up at OP's door -- no lay person has such authority. The police themselves had to decide to follow through on the report/call/whatever from the UPS employee by going to OP's home.

When shipping growlers, garbage bag the entire box, and then maybe the individual growlers as well. Those suckers are notorious for leaking.

Seriously though, what the hell happened to that box before it even left the store?

That is what I ment. For the clerk to have them show up at OPs house. If that is what happened.

What is Ozzie doing these days anyway?
