I've visited a few times. Like Natty Greene's...I've hit Bestway and loved that place (I wonder if I can set up direct payment from my checking )...Not been to Foothills, but i will and I am very aware of them

What are the other places I need to check out? Anything north of the city?

I'm going to really miss the Toppling Goliath beers, especially their citra APA and all their IPAs. Who has the best IPAs in town? Juicey citrus and/or bitter?

    Thanks for any help!

Best IPA in the area -- and one of the best in the state, in my opinion -- is Foothills Jade.

I also just moved to the area - though I have an advantage that my in-laws have lived in the area for many years (close to 30). I believe there was a thread in this forum recently about a couple of additional breweries that are supposed to be opening in Winston-Salem (link is http://beeradvocate.com/community/threads/winston-salem-coming-up-in-the-craft-beer-world.90762/). There is also City Beverage in Winston-Salem which is pretty decent bottle shop (which also has like 5 taps so you can enjoy a beer while you shop) and a number of Total Wine stores in the area.

Some of the places I have not checked out myself yet are Liberty Steakhouse (and Brewery) in the High Point area and West Bend in Yadkinville (mostly just to give it a shot).

You can check out the Beerfly entry for Greensboro/Winston-Salem (http://beeradvocate.com/beerfly/city/66) and if you find anything that is not there, please submit the update to add it to the site.

For IPAs, you might also check out Olde Hickory - the ones I have had I've enjoyed but I certainly have not tried them all yet...

    Welcome to NC!

Not a brewery itself, but check out Brixx Pizza on Westover Terrace near Battleground Avenue and Green Valley road. Mondays are $1.95 domestic craft brews. They regularly have a great selection of IPAs (Double Wide, Two Hearted), lots of locals from Foothills, Highland, and Red Oak, plus some other goodies. The Pour House downtown has an amazing selection on drafty and in bottles. There are also two Total Wines, on one Battleground and one on High Point Road near the mall as well.

Thank you, I will need to look for it soon as giving up Toppling Goliath IPAs might just kill me if I can;t find something.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

I will certainly use BA to find locations, etc and try to find all I can!

Welcome to Greensboro .... The Windy Ci errrrrr no, The Friendly City by the ummm no, the uhhh hell I can't remember what Greensboro's catch phrase is.
Although I've lived here all my life and been drinking craft brew for 2 years now, I don't get out a lot due to working 3rd shift. Here are a few recommendations that I can pass along. Bottle shops not mentioned : Pipe and Pint on Spring Garden Street, great guys and heavier into Belgian brews. Potent Potables in Jamestown, great owner with a nice selection and 4 or 5 taps of some great brews. The Brewers Kettle in High Point, great owner with a nice selection and 4 taps of some great brews.
Bars : my newer favorite is Jake's Billiards on Spring Garden Street. Not only do they have great brews on tap but they have outstanding food and they run lunch specials that are delicious and easy on the wallet. They also do brunch on Saturday and Sunday that is can't miss and they do beer pairing dinners once every two months (next one is July 27th) that are delicious !!! Also, Sessions on Spring Garden Street has a nice tap list with an emphasis on Belgian brews, nice beer garden, and bands playing there quite a bit. Mellow Mushroom downtown has a great selection. The Pour House (previously mentioned) was recently bought out and the new owners cleared house on all the former staff. Haven't been in awhile so I can't say if things are better or worse but they use to do 1/2 price drafts on Wednesday night.
Brewers/Beers : For me, I'd rather drive to Winston to Foothills than a few miles downtown to Nattys. Also as mentioned before Liberty Steakhouse and Brewery in High Point is well worth the drive. Todd the brewer makes some great brews, great food, and a nice patio area (I normally hit Liberty and The Brewers Kettle when I'm in High Point). Back to Foothills, 3 words "I love em". They definitely have one of the best 3 IPA's in the state (Wicked Weed and Nantahala being the other two in my opinion) with Jade, but they also have so many other great brews. Additionally, they do 3 brewery only releases a year (Sexual Chocolate, Barrel Aged Sexual Chocolate, and Old Rabbit Foot) YOU DO NOT want to miss these. Not only are they great one offs BUT the bottle shares that go down are incredible. Next one will be late August/early September for the BA Sexual Chocolate.
Hope my few cents worth helped, Gary

If anyone wants to get together and grab a beer sometime, just hit me up with a private message and we can try to find a place/time.

Westbend is in Lewisville. FYI. Their wine is decent as well if you like that sort of thing. They will be at the Summertime Brews Festival Saturday. I recommend you go there if you're in the area. Gary (RedNeck) and I will be at the Old Meck Brewery booth.

Liberty is definitely a place that does not get the attention it deserves. They have great beer and make some very nice seasonals as well. Occasionally the Brewers Kettle will get a special creation that nobody else will. So check out BK on FB or Twitter for updates.

Thanks for the pointers... still adjusting to life from the NYC area (there the majority of the bars have their current tap list available on BeerMenus), so it is a little more effort to figure out what folks have around here. Oh yeah, and everything is a lot more spread out

BK has more like 14 taps since their expansion. They get some great stuff - Liberty and BK is a nice afternoon trip from Winston or G'boro.

BeerMenus is great and I wish folks would use it around here, too. I find Twitter is the best way to keep up with special tappings locally as most places use that and/or Facebook.

Forgot to mention, I've been here as well. I loved the food, and liked the beer selection. Thanks for the input.

Oh, I almost forgot, did Goose BCBS get released in Greensboro?
