Good beer or no beer at all?

im down to celebrate with friends over a molson after a sweet pearl jam show in canada.

 

I don't know if I'd say I'm anal about it, but drinking should be enjoyable. If I don't enjoy a particular beer, why drink it? If that means only drinking craft, or only drinking certain styles, or only drinking huge beers, or only drinking session beers, so be it.

 

I won't drink any craft beer unless it's mixed 50/50 with Colt 45.

 

I mean end of the night I guess it's whatever, but no I'm not going to start drinking and go with crap.

 

Sort of - if I'm out to dinner and the premium beer they offer is the Sam lager, then I'll usually pass.

But after hockey games the guys on my team bring cans of ice cold Bud Light, and I crack open a few. I do feel a bit dirty (like I'm buying a Playboy magazine) when I go up to the counter with a 30 pack of Bud Light when it's my turn to buy, but it's probably some of the hardest to make beers out there (when you are that close to water there's nothing to hide behind.) I don't particularly care for the beer itself but I do respect the what it takes to make it consistently.

 

They have Sam Adams... and hockey... and Bud Light... in Chad?

I, like Will Rogers, never met a beer I didn't like. Course, Camo wasn't around back in Will and Wiley Post's days.

 

Coors Light stretches my patience no matter where it comes up.

But toward your question, I find it a bit ambiguous. Are we talking about any time and place, or specifically about buying drinks for a premium at a bar? If in general, I will probably partake of what is available. If I am buying for myself alone or at a bar, I would be hard pressed to purchase an American Adjunct.

 

I definitely won't buyBMC at a bar, or any event really. I've always pre-gamed for sporting events at nicer bars/my house and if I'm out at a function where it's swill or vodka I'll usually DD so my girlfriend can get drunk.

 

I don't drink to get drunk or anything else, haven't been drunk in years so if there isn't a beer I can enjoy I won't drink anything I'll just have a glass of tea or something.

 

No bar I frequent offers less than at least Sam/GI/SN.

In the occasional social situations were AAL's are being consumed, I'll take the full flavoured one. Coors/Bud/Miller (in that order) may not be great tasting, but they offer at least some flavour as opposed to their light counterparts.

Light AAL only? I'll grab a grain based spirit or water, depending on the situation.

 

Always beer - I don't care what beer it is I hardly ever refuse it. Just plain bad manners. That said, I certainly would restrict my drinking of that beer to a couple compared to if it were a good brew.

 

If it's a weekday, and I don't have craft(or if i do and im not feeling anything i have), I go without. I would never drink 2 Buds after work to unwind... I want something I can taste. If I'm going out with friends on a Friday or Saturday with the purpose of getting a buzz on, I start out with craft, but by the end of the night, depending on how much I drank, I've been known to down a Yuengling/LionsHead or 4. But that's pretty rare. Pretty much every bar in the Philly area has at least some craft. Just went out with a pretty big group of friends last weekend, and the majority of us drank craft all night. Shit beer should always be a last resort. I'll usually just switch to JD whiskey sours once I'm not really tasting the beer anymore.

 

It's like saying good sex or no sex at all... if you ask me I'd rather have some even if it's not good its better than nothing.
