We're all people, but some are also Indian or Arabic.

Brooklyn is no longer owned by the founders, Steve Hindy and Tom Potter, but by some other "upper middle class white dudes", David, and sons Eric and Robin Ottaway, heirs to the Ottaway Newspaper chain, now part of News Corp's Dow Jones & Co.

Wow, he asked a legitimate question.

    Some answers were helpful...

Some BA's are obviously confused. They thought this was Bigots Anonymous.

EDITED: the only edit of this was the question mark I put at the beginning of the first sentence. It was a confusing statement with a question mark being there.

I didn't see anyone say that a minority owned brewery was bad, simply that if a person really was 'color blind' it doesn't matter what color/race the brewery owner is. Good beer is good beer - regardless of what race someone is.

Kinda like good people is good people regardless of color/orientation/religion et cetera.

It's not bigoted to say "I don't care that you're a person of color, an immigrant or disabled, you make great beer and that's why I support you." The bigots are the ones that believe immigrant or race matters or should matter to whether or not you drink or support a brewery.

Want to stop the racism? Stop making it an point of interest or issue whenever something comes along. Good or bad. Person makes bad beer? Doesn't matter their race. Person makes great beer - doesn't matter their race.

    Bob made a killer stout.
Fred's beer tastes like sweat socks.

The race of either brewer doesn't matter a damn.

When I go shopping for beer, I don't care if elves made the stuff as long it's good beer and I have never asked who made it.

But in all seriousness, EVERYONE should stay away from beer made by elves. They are the devil's handmaidens.

The post should be "Are there any breweries not owned by rich white guys and their rich white buddies looking for a tax break".

The more minorities are able to actively participate in and profit from any industry, the better. And if you don't understand why that is, you could really benefit from a social studies lesson. And I'm not saying that in a snarky way. I'm being genuine. If you seek out information on multiculturalism, marginalized populations, institutional racism, etc, you will not be sorry you did.

So wouldn't owning and operating put you in the minority as it were? After all, we are not talking about beer in the sense most americans talk about beer. The craft beer market makes up a minority share of the beer market as a whole, making us the minority.
That being said, I would be interested to see the craft beer demographics. Really, how many craft beer bars and brewpubs aren't filled with white guys to begin with? I would assume the percentage of minority owners is right in line with the number of minority craft enthusiasts. Sometimes I feel like the minorite because I'm not a skinny little hipster and can't grow a beard.

Well, I am about as down to earth a person you will meet, and I honestly don't know why it would be a good thing for more minorities to own breweries.

More Germans? That I would understand. More English and Belgian immigrants? Makes total sense. But minorities? Perhaps you can explain to dumb fucks like me why that would be good.

As far as I can tell, this wasn't meant as a way to make a list to figure out which breweries to support. This was made to see if we could either prove or disprove the OPs notion that brewery owners are disproportionately white men. If we aren't able to successfully disprove that notion, then I think that is certainly a topic worth discussing. Why is it that the vast majority of people in the beer industry are white men?

And I'm sorry, but saying that racism is around because victims of racism keep pointing it out sounds a little too much like blaming the victim for me. Racism is a problem, and rarely is ignoring a problem the way to solve it.
