Is Double Sunshine produced at a regular enough interval that there is never really a bad time to throw up an ISO in the trading forum? Or do I need to follow the exact releases and request around these times? I perused the northeast forum and get the impression that they release it regularly enough, but it just sells out really fast.

Also, do they date their bottles?

Just looked at one of my bottle, it doesn't appear to be dated.

I'm not 100% sure on regularity. It seems to come in a wave for a couple weeks and then disappear for a while. Maybe someone else can comment on that.

Usually a batch a month and released around farmers market each month. Watch website, I might suggest setting up trades around those dates when it's uber fresh. Any DS currently out there has been in the bottle for at least a couple weeks. If stored in the fridge, should still be great. Long distance shipping at 90 degrees will not help it.

A couple weeks? It was for sale at last weekend's farmer's market... Those were already a couple weeks old?

Is that a reason not to try and trade for it right now? I'm in Louisiana.

No, they were bottled the week of the farmers market, so when I wrote this they were approaching 2 weeks old.

People really need to specify how fresh the IPA's that they are trading are and that they have been stored in the fridge, otherwise I would not want to trade for them.

Try to get the person the beer is coming from to ship on a monday so the beer does not sit in a hot warehouse for the weekend or wait for a cool spell.

What does it take to land a bottle?

A good navigation system can't hurt.

It's usually not super hard to get if you have somebody that can get it...

I gave a friend a fresh, refrigerated Double Sunshine last summer on his birthday. Two months later he pulls it out and says he kept it in his closet the whole time. I was a little angry but the beer was actually still drinking fine (though not 100% it's former self). I can't vouch for what happens shipping in 90 degree+ weather, though.

If you're looking for Double Sunshine, you should find a VT friend and send them to the Winooski Bev Warehouse. They are doing timed releases all weekend. Next ones are Saturday (today) at 11am, 3pm, and 6pm (see their postings on Twitter/Facebook). Sean made an large delivery of DS for this weekend, so there's a good chance a local can pick it up for you right now. Normal deliveries go extremely fast, but this shipment was much larger than normal.

I just got back from VT, and there was no Double Sunshine to be found - I did, however, find a bunch of Lawson's Maple Wheat Ale. I was at the Warren General Store - I think this is the closest place to the source. I know that Lawson's is also available at the Coop in Montpelier. Those are the two places that I've seen it, found it, bought it.

Double Sunshine is drinking beautifully lately! I've netted two for a BA Old Ruffian and other CCB Seasonals as part of a larger trade last year, but YMMV.

I've missed twice on DS, one time hit on Hopzilla and the 2nd time Chinookered, both very good though.

From Sean Lawson. Brewing nothing by Double Sunshine all month, so get your trade routes ready, we should be getting loads of it when it's ready.

It looks like I picked the right month to take a long weekend in Waterbury... :grinning:

If he's brewing this month, then the bottles probably won't be ready until next month.... but that's just my guess.
