Frenchmen street is fantastic. One of the best parts of NOLA without a doubt. I love that music.

The rumors about what style Z2013 is still just that, rumors. This below picture says that it will be a gueuze, but I wont believe anything until Cantillon posts about it.

Are you sure that's not just a stack of Zwanze, and three days of bottling worth of gueuze? I've seen shared stacks in that cellar.

    Also, look at the dates.

Looks like you are right. But still the verdict is out on what 2013 Zwanze will be.

I hope it's a West Coast IPA. Just to mess with peoples' minds.

It's rumored to be the "high density lambic" that they poured recently at a festival. There's a post on the other site about it, here are the BA reviews and RB reviews.
If this is the case, I just want the JK Zwanze 13' glass... and there better be a glass...

If it's the special lambic they poured at Shelton Brothers Festival, I'll take the Atrial Rubicite in a, wait... wait, heartbeat! Yeah, agree, that was bad! But no worse than the beer. Agree with most of the RB posters. Just plain odd.

That's what I was thinking it might be. Something like a lambic-barleywine hybrid is the was JVR described it I think.

Here is Cantillon's description, in case it is the Zwanze beer:

Our Lambics are beers with 5%ABV.
Some of our beers, like Vigneronne, Saint-Lamvinus or Iris reach 6-6.5%ABV because of the fruit fermentation and the higher gravity of sugar in the wort.
The normal gravity in a Lambic wort sits around 12,5°Plato.
Lambic has always been a very mysterious beer and, at Cantillon, we are very curious people.
That's the reason why we decided 3 years ago to brew a higher gravity Lambic. We reached 25°Plato, twice the normal gravity of wort for Lambic.
The result was amazing: A 9.7% ABV Lambic with 8°Plato residual sugar.

We repeated the experiment again two years ago. Because of the high level residual sugar in the first brew, we decide to produce a wort with a lower gravity to obtain the same alcohol level with less sweetness.
Lambic works in mysterious ways though, and with the wort at 22°Plato we got the same level residual sugar with less alcohol, 8.7%ABV.
Because of the high alcohol level, we had no more evolution after 2 years and we decide to blend those two brews and to bottle it in February of this year.

The result is surprising. The beer is amber, without carbonation, and comes in at 9.1%ABV and 8° Plato residual sugar.

It's close to a Barley Wine or an oxidized wine like Madeira, Sherry or Vin Jaune. Even more surprising is that when we forgot a half-empty bottle, th beer was still good when we tasted it....after 8 days.
This beer will be poured for the first time next weekend in Portland (Maine) for The Festival organised by Shelton Brothers and 12% imports.
